I love all the information on here since communication with the resort seems to be a bit slow. Any other brides that week? We arrive on jan15 to 22.

I'm from Calgary too! Our wedding will be next Saturday, April 13th at the Now Jade and we are currently booked through Romantic Planet Vacations (which I sincerely regret, but that's another story).

My biggest frustration with the resort thus far has been the hidden fees or "cash grabs", along with the inconsistencies where some people are charged for some services, where others are not, or they are allowed to swap services. I've read through the entire thread several times and there seems to be a lot of flexibility in some cases, but others not so much. I contacted the resort recently about the videographer included in our package. We don't need this service as we are hiring an outside videographer who will broadcast our wedding on the internet. I was told that the resort videographer could not be swapped out and it was a "use it or lose it" service. When I asked if I could change the resort videographer to record some of our reception (such as speeches, first dance, etc.) Deisy said the videographer would not be flexible and would be for ceremony purposes only.

We were originally going with the Now to Eternity package but my fiance really wanted the food choices of the Divine, so we opted to spend the extra money to upgrade as the cost to bump up the meals from the Now to Eternity to Divine was $300 for everyone. Some of the extra stuff we don't really need and we are hoping we can negotiate, but with the slow communication over the internet, I think most of the negotiations have to be done in person unfortunately.

Have fun planning your wedding!

Chris

I have a centerpiece question: since we will have 1 long rectangular wedding table, we will need like 6 or so small flower arrangements to alternate with the lanterns I have. The flowers through the resort are insanely priced so I found an outside florist who is doing bouquets for bridesmaids for like half the price. So I'm debating now to just use my 4 bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces and get 2 more and be done with it. The only thing is I don't want the ribbon/handle part to show through a clear vase, should I bring a filler? If so what might work? Or should I ask about non-clear vases? I want to ask pilar but she is taking so long to get back and I have like 47 days to figure this out!!

hi kal520

ive seen brides on here do that too and it looks nice! some even just left the bouquets laying on the table withuot vases but thats up to you. you can get those pretty "gems" or "crystals" to fill the vase with if you want in whatever color scheme your doing.. that might work? Also, what outside vendor are you using for your bridemaids bouquets? I also has 4 girls in my party and really rather not pay 65$ each if i can find someone to charge half that.

Do you all think it's common sense for guest to not sit in the first row as they are taking their seats? Is Pilar or Deisy there to direct our guest? I am not making or bringing down any 'reserved' signs and I'm just hoping people don't sit where the grooms parents and brides parents sit.

Also, neither of us are having grandmothers or anything like that so how would this work? Would our parents sit in a row by themselves? Would that be awkward? I know his parents will be on his side and mine on mine, but just 2 of them in a row of like 5? Is that weird?

Hi!

I am thinking of using an outside florist as well. Can you tell me who you are using? Are you paying the $350 outside vendor fee?

Also, I am having the rectangular tables as well. I am trying to go for a rustic feel so I got mason jars and deep blue wine bottles which we will use on the tables. I want to put small arrangements of hydrangeas in the mason jars and then one flower in the wine bottle. I think a filler would be fine to cover the ribbons.

Thanks!!

What an amazing thread!! I am getting married at the Now Jade on Jan 05 14. We already have 78 guests booked i am SO excited. Im starting to think of all of the little things (i know i still have such a long ways to go) but im just to excited not to! Does anyone know- with the divine package, are the center peices included for each table? or only for a certain number and then you have to pay for the rest?

Wow, 78 guests is amazing! That's a lot of love!

I don't believe any centerpieces are included (and the premium ones are like $350 a piece, so they can be very pricey). Someone else might know better, but I think you're able to use the one from the ceremony/signing table and just have it moved to the reception. I've also seen photos of flowers on the pergola and think they've been able to move them in and use them as well, but I'm not clear if they're part of the divine package or not or if they cost extra.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
