Hi Michelle,

A little late (my email notiofications haven't been working, so I am waaaaay behind on this thread!) but we hired Derek Campbell (photosincancun.com),  he is a fellow Canadian and his work also looks amazing!    I am looking forward to working with him!

yes!!! I see you booked the bamboo room for the reception/dance! definitely the way to go!! That's what we did to and it was so nice to have the air conditioned room!!! The only downside was that we didn't pay for any bar service, so our guests were constantly coming and going to get drinks. Not a big deal, but it made it tough to get a big group shot of everyone on the dance. :/ something to think about.

I just heard back from Deisy regarding the DJ.  I know there is a lot of consistency, so I thought I would share.  She offered me two hours of DJ  time for the live music that I don't want, which is what I've heard from other brides... although some girls said they got three hours.  Who knows.  I'm taking the two hours and paying the additional $350 + 11% tax for the extra hour for the DJ.

 Hi Happy2BMrsMills

Looks like your wedding party had a blast! Very Cool. I just have one question for you, do servers bring drinks with the plated dinner service and during the reception or do you have to get them yourselves? We were under the impression that there would still be servers taking drink orders throughout the reception? If not how far did people have to go to get drinks? Would it be worth it to pay for the private bar set up? Just wondering because we also have the bamboo room and we are leaving this weekend to get married for Dec.12. Thanks for your help!

Great wedding

My Fiancé (I guess I should say Husband) and I had our wedding November 27, 2012.  It was absolutely wonderful.  Pilar and Priscilla were our wedding planners.  Who knew that you could plan a wedding in 45 minutes????  They did an amazing job.  We had 25 guests.  We chose the Devine Wedding Package. The ceremony was on the beach.  The cocktail hour was in the Mix Beach Bar, which is a great location if your ceremony is on the beach because it is just steps away. We had originally booked the Festival Terrace for the reception, but because it started to rain there was a quick venue change.  One would think this would cause great issues, but it was handled seamlessly.  We ended up in the Bamboo room, which was fine because it was air conditioned and more private.  For entertainment, in addition to a dance, we hired the Fire Dancers. This was a surprise for our guests and they were definitely surprised.  I highly recommend it.  Just as a note to all of those nervous brides, the wedding planners are extremely busy!!!!  Our wedding was the 47th wedding they had completed in November.  They are pros.  Come prepared with a general idea of what you want and they will make it happen.  Also, remember if your wedding is a year away, save up your email questions and ask them once.  Wait for a reply, they will answer.  If you continue to email it takes up their time and they have to deal with weddings happening within the week and that day.  Remember, you will be that bride with only a week to go and you will want the planner who is focused on you not the bride a year in advanced.

We were lucky enough to have Del Sol Photography, Juan and Stephanie, capture memories of our special day.  I canâ€t wait to see the pictures. We had tried to schedule a trash the dress session, but the scheduling did not work out.  At the last moment, two days before we were to leave, my husband suggested the hotel photographer.  We had Alejandra, with Adventure Photos.  I love the photos.

The flowers we had to choose from were absolutely beautiful.  I had many positive comments on the bouquet.

The wait staff for the reception was excellent and we did not have to wait for drinks, so I would not recommend the private bar at the reception.  The food was yummy.  We had everyone pick their meals before we left for the wedding.

We rented the sound system for the dance and did not go with a DJ as only ½ of our guests were dancers.  We were very fortunate that night because in the lobby there was a live band, so instead of going to the sports bar we headed to the lobby and had a blast.  At one point we had about 50 extra hotel guests join us while we danced.

Overall, we had a wonderful wedding and thank everyone at the resort for making our day special and our guests feel comfortable.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
