Hi guys! How far in advance did you book one of the resorts DJ's and hair/makeup? I still have plenty of time, Nov. 17th next year, but want to make sure I don't wait too long. I have 6 bridesmaids and want to give them the option to get hair/makeup done along with me and our moms. Hopefully that's not too many people for the spa to handle that day!

Hi Jackie! I have been told that you need to book the spa appointments about 2-3 months in advance.

Its funny you say that - i have also thought about it being too many people for the spa to handle, as i have myself, 2 moms, 3 bridesmaids, and a few cousins and aunts who want hair and make up done as well! Everyone wants to be pretty hehe.

Also, i have already been in contact with the resort DJ to book for our wedding next year which is pretty close to yours - November 24 :) looks like we are both november brides -yay!

Hope this helps :)

It is never to early to setup the booking with the DJ.  If you are using the resort DJ (AVI Solutions) your wedding planner at the resort can handle that for you.  If you use the resort DJ, the charges for the DJ will be put on your final wedding invoice.

We are November 21. And we have already booked a photographer and have been talking about a DJ, never too early. But I heard the same that 2-3 months in advanc for hair, however, if you're going to have that many people you might want to check a little earlier, because who knows if they'll be booked up and since you need multiple openings instead if just yours

I was hoping someone may be able to recommend Signature Drink(s)? I was thinking of something blue and my fiance would like to have a signature drink with spiced rum. I wanted to know if this is an option? I am not sure what exactly is available in terms of alcohol/mix. If anyone has had a signature drink it the past please do share! Much appreciated!!

As long as they carry blue curaco you can really have anything made blue.

Thanks everyone!  I sent an e-mail to Pilar today to request the DJ's information so I can get in touch with him sooner rather than later.  We plan on just using the resorts DJ.  We are in the process of booking a photographer, still weighing the pros and cons of bringing one from home versus hiring someone local. So many decisions to make!!

Hi Ladies,

So we're here at NJ right now. Our wedding hasn't happened yet, so I can't report back on that yet! But... My thoughts from the first few days.

Pro:

We are booked in a governor suite and it's absolutely gorgeous

Contrary to recent trip advisor reviews, yes, there was a tray of bacon at the buffet. It wasn't hidden at the omelet station.

We've eaten at Mercure for breakfast, castaways for lunch and Cin-Cin for dinner. All meals so far were lovely. We have our private dinner tonight (see below...)

We enjoyed our couples massage. The hydrotherapy circuit wasn't very impressive though.

The coffee shop is great. We enjoyed the frozen lattes and frozen baileys

We haven't seen them, but have heard from our guests that the entertainment staff is good

We did a cake test (got to pick 3 flavours) when we met with our WC. I highly recommend this!

Con:

The check in process was PAINFUL. We weren't offered a welcome drink, it took us at least 30mins to check in on the preferred side and probably another 15 after that for them to come to the lounge with our luggage. They messed up on several of our guests room bookings as well, and they also had horribly long waits

Despite booking and confirming our private dinner a month ago and confirming the time with our WC yesterday, an hour before our dinner they bumped us to a different time slot. Slightly annoying when we scheduled plans with family and friends we can no longer make

Even in the governor suite the mini bar replenishment is not consistent

At least one of our guests complained about a swamp smell in their room

Since we paid for the governor suite we were told we could "gift" our room upgrade to my fiancée parents. The WC asked us for their confirmation #, so I thought it had happened. It didn't. When we asked about it we were told that there was no availability. Again, frustrating.

And also...

The road conditions to get here depends entirely on how much it rains. It was fine on Wednesday, but was a mucky, mess with huge lakes today. Honestly though, unless you're the one driving, don't worry!

We had quick, delicious room service one night, and incredibly slow service on another. The jury is still out on that one..

So I guess a few things have happened that have bugged me a bit, but I am trying to stay as open minded as possible for the rest of the week!

No promises I'll log on again while we are down here, I have time to kill right now waiting while our dinner was bumped. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering... for those who chose the pergola is it an extra cost to have flowers on the pergola as decoration or is that included in the devine package?

Thanks so much

The flowers on the pergola are included. You also get to choose one centrepiece as part of the package

Hi ladies,

Quick question....If we chose to use the tiffany chairs.... is it $10 per chair?? It's a little unclear in the brochure.

:)

Yes, whatever the price is I believe it is per chair.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
