We are having our reception/dinner at Castaway restaurant and there is a bar there. Will there be a bartender there or does it cost extra to have someone serve drinks there? I thought it was included but am not sure..

I also read that they are able to do a signature drink. Does anyone know whether that is an additional cost?

Pilar told us no charge for a signature drink and the planning form actually asks the question, and wants you to detail what your drink is.

*played.. my goodness I just can't spell today.. It must be Friday!

I might have to consider getting a dj hahah it sounds like he was a blast! Did you provide the dj with the music or did you let him play whatever he chose to do so? Did he mc also?

Hey ladies,

I just returned and will try and write a complete review this weekend! Everything at the resort was beautiful and everything I had dreamed of. Pilar and Daisy work so hard to make everything flawless, so try not to stress. Just a few things that people have asked about:

paper lanterns I brought about 30 with no lights or hanging supplies and was not charges to set up and they looked gorgeous! (see pic)

700

we had brought down our own chairs sashes (80) and they tied them and set up for no additional charge.

The flowers at the pergola were also added at no charge & they used centerpieces from the reception as decor for the isle at the cermony.

After all our guests left the resort drove my HUSBAND and I to our honeymoon resort in one of their private SUV's and it was perfectly safe.

For dinner we glued colored flowers on the escort cards to determine the menu choices(turquoise for beef and purple for salmon, veggie was no sticker) and I also gave Pilar a list of each guest.

If you ladies have any q's please let me know but I will do a full review this weekend...

What resort did you guys choose for your honeymoon?  We are moving over to the new Paradisus La Perla, I wonder how far from the Jade it is!?

The flower medallions on the pergola- can those be used as decor at the reception, or do they look funny laying down?

Your pic looks exactly how I envision mine, less the purple!  Congratulations! :)))

Does the Dj also act as an MC for the reception?  We want to swap out our live music for the DJ, but are wondering if we need to recruit one of our friends to MC for us LOL!

We only had to pay him for 1 hour because we traded the live music for the DJ...some people have said that they got both hours for free.  It was so worth it to have someone take care of the music for us.  We gave him a general idea of music...like we put dance music and no country...hahaha.  Yes he had a mic which was used during all of our speeches!!!  We had my husbands father MC so I am not sure if he will do that or not.  He did announce us in though at the start!!!

Great thanks!

Any chance you might be able to find out what his name is for me? I think we might get one of our friends to MC. Lol that would als be my music request ...no country! I am worried that 10pm won't be late enough.. We love to dance and am so worried that people will be bored after 10pm. I have had other brides suggest the lobby because they have a band there on some nights. I am curious about the sports bar also. I read somewhere a dj performs? Did you visit the sports bar? What was it like? Did they play good music? Were people dancing?? Did you go elsewhere afer the dj was finished at Castaway? Or did everyone go back to their rooms?

We are paying (hopefully not charged LOL) fo ran extra hour to extend our reception to 11pm.  Our timeline goes:

4:00 ceremony

5:00 cocktail hour- there will be a longer break here because we really didnt want our reception to end at 9pm- this way people can mingle, go back to their room ,change, whatever- and then we get more time for pics!

7:00 dinner  (typically to 10pm, but we are extending to 11pm)  Since we're doing it on a Saturday, I think we'll prob head to the disco afterwards :)))

I emailed Pilar and asked if it would be possible to get extended time for the Castaway restaurant and she told me the latest it is available until is 11pm. She said it would be an additional service charge for a minimum of 50 guest $15 per person. Which would cost $750! As much as I would love to have the additional time it isn't late enough for us and I can't justifiy spending the extra money..

Yes, I am thinking the disco also! The sports bar is referred to as the disco right?

A question about symbolic ceremonies, does anyone know how many days prior you are required to arrive? I know there is a requirement for legal ceremonies but I can't find any info on symbolic & pilar hasn't replied to me in over a month. :S

There is no requirement regarding symbolic ceremonies, only the legal ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
