These people spent time and money to come celebrate with us so the cost of dinner in comparison was miniscule. One tip I can give you is to cut costs down during the cocktail hour. The resort wanted to charge us 14 additional portions for the cocktail hour appetizers (I think it was about $17 per person) but we just told them to supply enough for the 24 people portion that is included with the package - it was more than enough. There were still appies being passed around after we got back from taking photos. In my opinion, I don't think you need to buy an appy portion for every single one of your guests unless you think they will all eat quite a bit before the reception. There are just "less" appies to be shared among your guests. People donâ€t get their own portions – it is passed around on a big serving plate. Our guests ate it in moderation as they didnâ€t want to ruin their appetite for dinner. It will also depend on how many guests you have coming. For example, if you have 50 total, maybe just buy an additional 10 portions on top of the 24 included. That is just my recommendation - totally up to you of course. Hope that makes sense and can save you some $$ as things can add up quickly :)

Happy planning and congrats again!

Good advice regarding savings on appetizers - one more thing I was thinking about to add to the cost savings ideas -- depending on how large your wedding party is, you might not need to up the number of appies as much.  For example our wedding party (including us) is 10 people - they will miss a large chunk of the cocktail hour for photos so we aren't concerned with matching portions to number of wedding guests.  Hopefully that makes sense?

Who are you booking with?  We are going thru Robert Q travel and with Air Transat so our early book bonus deadline is Mon. April 30, which was 6 days from when we put down our deposit so it has been crazy but we have 8 rooms (mostly doubles) booked as of this afternoon, we anticipate probably 1 more couple to book before Monday.  So exciting!!

If you don't mind - what price (approx) are guests from Edmonton flying for?  We have a friend in Edmonton and our TA has quoted almost $1900 for him (whereas our guests from Ontario are paying under $1500).  I told him to see what a TA from Edmonton could get for him even tho it would be separate from our booking, since I feel horribly that it was so much more money!

Hi Mlite,

Our guests travelling from Calgary will be paying under $1700 (with our concession, it will be just over $1600).  Sorry we didn't have any prices for Edmonton, as most of our guests are from BC.  Hope this helps,

Jen

Hey Mlite...we are paying $1600 all taxes included with Westjet out of all 3 ports (Winnipeg, Edmonton & Victoria)!

Question:  Does anyone know what the prices are for passes for guests not staying at the resort.  The wedding day pass is $55 per person, but is there different pricing when it isn't for the wedding?  I have guests staying next door and they are wondering what the pricing is to come over a couple different days other than the wedding.

It could potentially be the same... The wedding day pass is the same price for a 1/2 day pass(5 or 6 hours) I think a full day pass is $100 or $110, but I don't know how meals and drinks get factored in

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
