I am not sure how long the construction will last. I will ask for you and let you know. I am sitting on my balcony and just took a picture of it. It looks like they are almost done. We are on preferred side, and there is the same construction at the other side as well but not close to the rooms.

The preferred pool is amazing (adults only). If you want to sit at the other pool you need to get there at 7am and put down a towel and a peice of clothing or sunglasses or something to keep that spot. Otherwise gooooood luck.

Check in for preferred only took about 20 mins. our guests don't arrive until next Wedneaday and they are staying on the other side so I will let you know how the check in goes for them. And as far as time share people, we saw a few at the airport and they didn't bother us and so far not one single person has brought up or came up to us about time shares here.

I just got my final contract from Pilar.

We have hired an outside photographer.

I was told we had to pay $150 vendor fee for the photographer and $150 vendor fee for the photographer assistant.

The resort is also trying to charge me for a $65 day pass for the photographer and assistant, is this correct as it sounds like they are double dipping to me?

Hello! I emailed Pilar a couple weeks ago letting her know we are having an outside photographer and she also quoted me on those prices. I didn't see anything about the $65 on the contract but who knows. Not going to lie, when we first read "$150/person" my fiance and I thought they meant per guest...and we almost had a heart attack. Haha. Still a bummer with the extra fees but I feel like it's only the beginning...

Anybody opt out of the cocktail hour? I was all for having a cocktail hour at the mix bar until my fiance found out how much it would cost us per person. As of now we are not having a cocktail hour and going to tell the guests to head to the lobby bar while we take single and group pictures. We just couldn't wrap our heads around spending that much for a cocktail hour when it was an all-inclusive and they can just walk to the lobby bar and drink for free? But I also don't want our guests to miss out.

Anyone have the laundry service price list? We are going 2 weeks with our 2 kids....trying to figure out if it's cheaper to get laundry done there and pack less or if I really need 2 weeks worth of clothes each plus backups lol....we have to pay for all luggage on our airline and since we r bringing a bunch of wedding crap with us I'd rather not bring 14 pairs shorts for each kid when they all look almost the same lol

I can't speak for your resort but just travelled with kids. Mine needed way more shirts than shorts. For 7 days they did ok work 2-3 maybe 4 shorts but god they needed 14 shirts! Good luck.

You can probably email the resort for this info as well.

They've got a new policy where you pay $150 outside vendor fee for photography in addition to a day pass that is $65 per person (for example we are having 2 photographers and an assistant so we are having to pay for 3 day passes). As far as I know, you should only get charged $150 one time and then get charged per person for the $65 day pass.

It used to be that there was no outside vendor fee for photography what this has recently changed. Even though I was able to show proof that I was told in the beginning that there was no outside photography vendor fee (old emails from Isela), it was difficult for them to remove this from our itemized list. I wouldn't be surprised if I have to argue about this when I get down there for the wedding.

Hi

Im having a photographer and Im being charged the $150 vendor fee but I cant see $65 for a day pass on my contract.  Unless its maybe a mistake but when I enquired about the photographer fee this is the reply I got, no mention of the $65.

"If not staying at the hotel it is necessary to pay the external photographer fee which is $150.00 USD per photographer per day"

Have you lots of guests coming to your wedding?  Ive seen some of the previous brides on the site have still had the cocktail party but opted not to pay for extra appetizers.  Perhaps this is an option?

I know what you mean about all the additional fees, Ive been trying to keep mine to a minimum but its pretty hard to avoid them and they can mount up fairly easily!!

By cocktail hour, you mean the one included in your package? We're at Now Sapphire but the packages are the same. I'd hate to forego it, since it is included for 25 people. I am considering not ordering additional appies for the extra people. I think we'll end up with around 40 people, so everyone would still get 2+ pieces (you get 100 pieces, give or take, depending on what you chose). I mean it's an all-inclusive where probably a lot of people ate lunch late anyhow and dinner will be served shortly.

It really irks me that you have to pay an extra $15 per person for the bar, though. The bartender is already there and liquor is included for all resort guests! I think we will probably go ahead with it anyhow. Then again the lobby bar might be a good option if it's not too far from your ceremony/reception location. I'm sure your guests can find their way there

We are anticipating a large guest list that's why we thought it was a little outrageous the $15/person for the bar when they can go drink for free. However i did mention to my fiancé how I was nervous if we sent our guests to another place to get drinks they would not make it back in time for the dinner/start of reception. we have quite the party animals in the group so it will be interesting to see if we can keep them on track, haha I have a feeling we will decide last minute what to do about the cocktail hour. Thanks for the advice!

I am not sure how to respond to something on here but to Nybride525, I am at now jade right now and I can take a pic of the laundry service sheet for you and email it to you. We are here for two weeks and I just finished washing a bunch of clothes In the bathtub. We have two kids and one of them in a toddler who goes through about 3 shirts a day. I just put some baby blankets in the laundry bag and contemplating whether to get them cleaned because it's kind of expensive.

And not sure how old your kids are but they take our baby bottles everyday and clean them which is awesome!

Email me at kylie537@@gmail.com if you would like me to send you a picture of the laundry sheet. I'll go take a picture of it right now. And any other brides that want to know something or want pictures of something then I have no problems going and taking photos or asking questions to the staff here. At first I wasnt a big fan of the resort but after being here for a week I am really starting to love it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
