Does anyone have pictures of their reception on the Carnival Terrace? I would like to do one long table for "family style" dining however I'm afraid there won't be room for a little dancing.

I saw one picture from a past bride but I'm hoping there are more :)

We had 30 guests and had one long table and there was tons of room for the DJ, the cake table, the table where the photographers and DJ eat dancing. It's a lot bigger than it looks!

How was the DJ? We are debating whether to have a DJ or to use our Ipad with music that we have selected. What benefit did you find to having a DJ? Did you give the DJ a song list?

I liked having a DJ just for convenience and we also wanted him to play background music for the dinner, we needed a sound system for speeches, the video screen for a slideshow and cold fireworks. He sent out a form a few weeks in advance where I indicated my must play songs, songs for the entrance, first dance, garter toss, etc. it is a $350 vendor fee though to get him onto the resort but we found it was still cheap than the DJ the resort provides

Can any past brides comment on the cake? My future MIL is a cake designer. She is making cake toppers for us. When I showed her the pics of the cakes she had all kinds of questions. Seems like I've seen people say there is no need to get extra cake for extra guests. How big is the cake if you go with the 25? Does anyone have any pictures they could share? Thanks!

I just looked at a picture of my cake for the first time, haha, and it does look kind of small, however we all had dessert with dinner and when the cake was served everyone was busy dancing so I honestly don't know if many other than the kids even ate it. I can email you a picture if you would like?

Does anyone have pictures of the reception at the Bamboo room that you could email to me?

Im trying to figure out how much decor I need to bring, how I want to set up the tables, and if I have a blank wall to set up a sort of back drop to go behind the wedding party table.

No, I tipped the one that came to the reception and did all the actual work, for me it Was Carmen.

I tipped her at the end of the night when I tipped the servers before we left...my dad had all of our tip money.

No, I did not tip my photographer because he owns his own business. We brought an officiant with us, so we didn't tip them, but I have heard of people doing that if they're not having a legal ceremony down there. And we did not have a DJ. I think the rule of thumb is if they own their own business, you don't tip, and if they work for another organization, you do tip.

Canadian Brides- Has anyone seen a significant price increase this year for packages? Just got a quote from WestJet for $1730 from Ottawa. Last year it was $1390 taxes in... Sort of depressing for a November wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
