Yeah, I think I'm going to separate all my receipts by gift and not gifts. And then by suitcase as well. I can't decide if I think that will helpful.

Who can provide more insight on going through customs with decorations and welcome bag contents?

I have heard there is a $300 limit. Does this include decorations and welcome bag contents? How strict are they?

Our welcome bags are about $700 total for all the contents and our décor is about $400.

Welcome bags include - bag, insulated personalized mugs, personalized koozies, aspirin, gum, chap stick, sunscreen, playing cards, and Kleenex.

Décor includes - chair sashes, mini vases, water beads, floating candles, fake pedals, name place cards, and bridal party flowers.

The limit is only for gifts.. to be on the safe side I had packed receipts with the big item stuff (chair bows, center piece, gift bags, vases) and I also dispersed it among our parents and wedding party. No one got questioned or 'detained'.. I don't think they actually take the time to count up your spending and make sure its under $300.. just watch what u write on the declaration forms, they look at that more.

Hi brides :)

How far in advance are you setting the deadline for you guests to book? My wedding is 8 months away, which sometimes seems like a ton of time and other times seems like no time at all!  I just feel like I can't plan hardly anything without having a very good idea of how many people are going to be there...any thoughts?

The final paperwork is due to the resort 45 days ahead of time (can be adjusted some), so I gave my guests until 60 days before. I had a pretty good idea of the number but there were still some surprise bookers towards the end.

My wedding is in about 5 weeks and I still have one guest not booked but says he's coming. We did 45 days out on our RSVP

Did you feel like it was hard to organize tables, do welcome bags and chair bows, yadda yadda without knowing the exact number? I guess I'm stressed because outside of family and a few close friends, I really don't feel like I can't count on anyone for sure to actually go until I see that they're booked!  So many people seem super excited about going, but I don't know who will pull the trigger once they see the price tag!

There really isn't much that needs to be done as far as seating charts, chair bows, and welcome bags before 45 days. If you are ordering items, they usually come in 2-3 weeks and seating charts can be done a week or two before.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
