OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

I have an excel worksheet that Pilar gave me for the cost breakdown for extra people.

We are having 75 people and having a hard time deciding what to do for dinner. It's seems crazy to pay an additional $3000 for the rest of the guests over 25 to eat at an all inclusive resort.

We are thinking about putting the money we would spend on dinner towards an all inclusive party boat instead where people would much rather have the $70/person spent.

What are other people's thoughts?

I can email the spreadsheet to anyone else that would like to see it.

We are getting married November 6th and having the same problem with a large group and the crazy extra charges. I was not told that we had to do buffet, you can choose a menu like anyone else.

Do you mind sending me the sheet as well?

Sorry I know a bunch of people are already asking...

Past brides, it is customary to tip the wedding coordinator? I would expect to tip bartenders, servers, etc, but wasn't sure if most brides also tip the coordinator..

Im not sure if it is customary, but I did tip the wedding coordinator. They work hard to make sure everything goes exactly as you want. They are there the entire duration of the wedding day from the ceremony until the end of the reception. I had to ask Isela a question at one point of my party and I couldn't find her, I asked the dj if he knew where she was and within 2 minutes he got her for me and she was right there to help. They wear little ear pieces and pagers so they are very quick to come.

Hello everyone! I first posted some time ago, but now that the wedding is 4 months away (Oct. 25th)-Yikes!-I find myself a little stressed about details! :)

I picked up my dress today-Hooray!-and have been doing more research and emailing with Pilar.  I've seen some questions asked that I received answers to, so I thought I'd take a moment to post them:

1.  What is the charge to bring my own chair sashes?

$1 per sash for steaming-MUCH cheaper than buying them there.

2. What is the charge to hang up paper lanterns that I bring? (We are having the reception on the terrace)

$40 for 20 lanters

3.  What does the $150 sound system include?

A speaker and a microphone

4.  Is there a sound system set up for the ceremony?

I was told that there would be a microphone/sound system included.

I am 100% sure I'll have more questions-but reading this blog really helps-thanks ladies!

I almost forgot! They have someone available to start/stop ceremony music on an IPod; probably obvious, but I asked anyway. :)

Past or present brides, how far in advance are you setting your deadline to book?  I know that we need to have our planning sheet in 45 days in advance, but how much time did you give yourself to play with?

For those of you past brides that had an outside DJ and Photographer, what did you do about providing them dinner? I know in the states you typically pay for a Vendor dinner. Since I am paying fees for them to come in, I am not sure what that means with respect to feeding them!

This whole dinner and tipping is concerning me. I know what the etiquette is in the U.S. but since this is an AI, not sure what to do.

Several photographers have mentioned they do expect to be fed....I could see if you are only having a 2-3 he package then they would be ok without....but I don't expect someone to photograph for 6-8 hours with nothing lol so when I thought of it this way it was less of a pain to just pay

Yea thats what I am thinking. I just don't know if we are supposed to count him as a guest or if I just let Pilar know.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
