I have an excel worksheet that Pilar gave me for the cost breakdown for extra people.

We are having 75 people and having a hard time deciding what to do for dinner. It's seems crazy to pay an additional $3000 for the rest of the guests over 25 to eat at an all inclusive resort.

We are thinking about putting the money we would spend on dinner towards an all inclusive party boat instead where people would much rather have the $70/person spent.

What are other people's thoughts?

I can email the spreadsheet to anyone else that would like to see it.

We are getting married November 6th and having the same problem with a large group and the crazy extra charges. I was not told that we had to do buffet, you can choose a menu like anyone else.

Hey! I would love the spreadsheet! We are also probably going to have 75 or more!

I initially thought 35 but it looks more like 65-75 now and I'm starting to panic at the final cost...we were gonna do the reception n dinner in bamboo room with a dj for the 3 hours...but $70 for 40 people is crazy lol

Oh I like the idea of the boat. We prefer the buffet with the large group since you get more options than just one plate of dinner. And I expect the quality of food (warmth, etc) decreases significantly with large groups when doing a seated dinner. But we work in restaurants so we might have different opinions than the norm. I was thinking I would prefer to just do a Beach BBQ similar to someone's welcome party that was $30pp (I think). I imagine you could still have music and it would be similar to a traditional reception.

I hadn't heard of the beach BBQ option for $30/person? That wouldn't be a bad idea. Much better than the $70/person and we would still get to eat together.

Thanks @@Meg32IL! That actually really helpful!

Has everyone been in close contact with the resort? I can say that I haven't emailed or been in contact with them at all since I finalized my dates. I guess I should, but I am not sure what I need to ask even!

Well I know in reading reviews someone did a welcome BBQ party that they said was a great time, and I am curious if it could replace the reception altogether. But I am not sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
