I'm still purchasing extras for the doecoration and welcome bags.  I have a question has anyone worked with Fernando Hernandez as their wedding coordinator?? I was just wondering since i knew Pilar was away for a while for maternity leave.... just want to make sure I'm getting someone on top of things!

Did any past brides have the complimentary welcome reception? I have mine set for the first night and there is a charge of like $20 a person for anyone over 25 people. I believe this is just in the lobby bar, how strict are they if you have extra people?

For those who had an at home reception and your destination wedding, how did you handle your invites, the rsvp's and the wording?

We are inviting all our guests to both locations... 300 people, knowing only about 80 are going to Mexico. I need an RSVP for both events, the destination wedding in November and the home reception in January.

Do you know what criteria determines whether or not you get a complimentary welcome reception?

When I booked there was a special on the website stating that they were offering free welcome receptions.

I sent an email to our WC to confirm and have proof in email that she said I qualified.

Right now the wedding special is.... Ready to Wed - book by April 30th and get $500 credit to spend on your wedding extras.

I'm just staying at the resort with my guests, so I don't think I would qualify.  As I mentioned earlier upthread, I wanted to reserve a place at the buffet for my guests, but the wedding coordinator said that I can't do that in advance.

I have a question regarding tipping. Who is everyone tipping and how much? Wedding coordinators? DJ? Staff? Outside photographer?

We will be tipping the wedding planner, not sure how much, probably $100-$200

We will also tip the DJ and photographers.

Beyond that, I'm not sure... The servers at the wedding reception I think have money included in the cost. (for instance I added the extra hour and was charged the cost plus tax plus service. That service part I'm assuming is for the workers required to run it) so I'm not sure it is necessary to tip them?

I will also probably tip the guitar player and the bartenders that work our cocktail hour.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
