OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

We are also doing an engagement party in June for our wedding in September, rather than have an AHR when we get back. At first we were a little iffy about having the engagememt party bc people may be insulted that they're not invited to the wedding, but it's something that our parents are putting together for us. We were going to do an AHR afterwards, but by the time we get our video and photos from the wedding, it's going to be time for holidays and winter weather, and it's just not worth it for us

We are having our AHR In January after the holidays, but I'm still pretty sad about the weather haha

can't wait to read your review!

Super excited, we have OFFICIALLY booked Gonzalo Nunez! I've also contacted Pilar about our day, and Isela responded. She seems exremely organized, and is more than reasonable! I messaged her exactly how I want everything and shared my concerns, and I had nothing but POSITIVE feedback! We are thrilled!

Hey everyone. So I'm currently talking with our photographer and planning our trash the dress session. We can either choose to do it 3 days after the wedding (which I'm afraid will interfere with drinking and fun with friends the night before..plus that means I'll have to be extra careful about sun-burn and not overindulging so I can still look good in my dress)....or we can do it the day before anyone arrives since were going down a few days early to settle any last minute plans. The second one sounds temping since we probably will avoid partying too hard before the wedding since it'll just be us, we wanna look good, and they'll be things to do...I was also thinking that doing it before would be good because I could test out hair and makeup before the actual big day...butttttt this would mean I'd have to buy another dress....thoughts? Tips?

Also, does anyone know how early the salon opens? Our trash the dress session is going to be at sunrise because that's the only time the sun is over the ocean on that side of Mexico. I'm worried the salon won't be open early enough.

Any suggestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated since I would like to lock in our photographer ASAP!

So our wedding is Oct 18, 2014 and it would be very convenient to just use the Adventure Photo (resort photographer) for the whole day since I have to use them anyway for my wedding package BUT everyone's sub-par reviews makes me nervous but then I look at their website and it doesn't look so bad. Is their work that bad or do some brides just have too high of standards? I just want beautiful colors and in focus, pretty pictures that capture our day, nothing too crazy I don't think.

What are everyone's opinions?!

In my opinion, photography is something you should not take a chance with! at the end of the day, its all you have left to remember the best day of your life so i think its worth it to splurge a little on the photographer! i know thats not feasible for everyone but the resort photographers photos simply look very average, nothing special or unqiue about it, simply just a picture snapped! If you want beautiful colors, i would say check out a different photographer. We decided to go with Dean Sanderson and so far are super pleased with that decision - he does great work AND has beyond awesome reviews, not bad prices either depending on what your looking for! check him out :)

I am having a pretty great experience with Isela as well! shes been awesome so far :) are you trying to swap any items from the package? if so, have you been successful?

if you go and read the most recent review ( http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/reviews/r/4287-now-jade-riviera-cancun/ ) it gives you a pretty good idea of just how poor the quality of pictures from the resort photographer really is.... :)

I didn't really try to swap anything out, I just pointed out that I do not have a bridal party, I only have 2 bridesmaids and no groomsmen, SO I asked if I could just get rid of the boutonnieres and corsages for 2 small bouquets, and she said yes but they will be very small, 3 flowers. Which I am more than happy with. I basically told her how I would like everything to go, and she didn't decline anything. So I guess it's because I was super nice about it, and didn't really demand anything, more so just asked politely. Lol

Hey, I'm not a photo person so by no means have high standards in terms of photos so due to finances we decided that the most important thing to us was that our guests had a really good time, they had all put a lot of effort travelling to Mexico from the UK so we wanted to ensure that all our money went it to making it a special day for everyone and just went with the resort photographer as outside vendors were just too much money.

The photos were pretty awful nothing that my friends and family couldn't do...infact they took better pics then him! He was clueless, hadn't got an enthusiasm, no recommendations just plodded along, he was just annoying to have a round because of his lack of options. He took none of me on my own, they were all pretty much in one place and he focused more an groups then my and my husband and one point he was off taking pictures of some of my guests, like individual family shots!!! They wasn't going to be there picking the pictures and it wasn't about individual family shoots it was our wedding!!! when we went to view them we had NO problems of whittling them down from 280 to 30 they were that medioka!! Luckily I am not exactly a picture person so the ones we chose and had in the book were ok and lovely to look back on but if your priority is your photographer and you can afford to I would defiantly say go with an outside vendor

Hi ladies,

Did you bring your own table linen or does the resort have a variety of colors for the table linen??

What colors do they have??

Thanks  :)

I actually ordered my table runners and chair bows (coral organza) online because it is going to be way cheaper than renting them at the resort. They charge $5 per chair and I ended up buying 30 chair sashes for only $12.  The resort does have a variety of colors/textures that was emailed to me.  If you send me your email I can send the colors over.

I'm using the resort photographer for the entire day package.  I'm getting married there February 28, so I can write a review on what I thought of them when we get back and post some pics!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
