OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

My wedding is coming up sooooon! Feb. 28. I've been emailing with Ariadna Tort who is going to be filling in for Pilar because she will be going on maternity leave in early Feb.  I decided to go with the resort photographer and remember reading past entires from brides saying to request Veronica because she is really good.  Well just an FYI... I requested her but was told she doesn't work at the resort anymore! Booo hoooo.

I've been emailing with Fernanda, but let me know who you end up going with. My wedding is in May and we are also going with the resort photographer (paying the extra $1150 for full day package)

We had Ariandna and Fernando, they worked together and both were really good.

We were thinking of doing a buffet on the side and wanted a few appetizers from there, and it ends up costing $48 plus 11% and 15% per each person for a private buffet and you choose from different buffet options. We just went with a plated dinner. You also need a minimum of 40-50 guests for buffet.

we wanted to do that too, but then I read this thread

UGH that's so disappointing, I found a website, (http://tmbwg.blogspot.com/) that seemed pretty legit, and for $300, you'd think they would be efficient. :/

How soon does the wedding coordinators start to contact you? My wedding is in April and I haven't heard from anyone yet. My travel agent told me they won't start contacting me until 6 weeks before the date but I was hoping to start getting details down sooner!

I would imagine they will be contacting you once you submit your form filled for the 45 day deadline.

So we've come to the conclusion that the resort photographer isn't going to work out. I don't want to chance him having a bad day on OUR day, and looking back on past brides, I'm scared! I've contacted Gonzalo Nunez, and we're pretty excited bc his portfolio is amazing! Any thoughts ladies??

They provide white linens for the tables. And I know they have other colors, but they're kind of expensive, I think about $20 a table.

We have a large number of guests joining us. Near 75. We cannot afford $70 extra per person for dinner. We are thinking about only having out bridal party and immediate family attend the reception dinner. Everyone else could attend the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception dancing. Miss anyone done this? Is it possible?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
