OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Im so excited I found this site! You lovely ladies are so helpful with all of your reviews!!

As of right now, Im looking for an outside photographer that can do the whole day for under $3000. Is that reasonable or should I stick with the resort photographer (just worried about the less than impressive reviews)

one post down, 149 to go :P

I think that is very reasonable because that is my budget also. As was previously mentioned, your photos are all you'll have except your husband, from your wedding.

We brought a photographer down with us and she charged us less than this! I don't think you should have any problem finding someone under this budget.

For those who have already had their wedding, I was just wondering what the ceremony was like. Is it in Spanish with an interpreter or did they have someone who spoke English? Also, did you get to meet the officiant before to give them details of you to make it personal? How long was the ceremony?

Also, do you choose the time of your ceremony? Mine is in April and I wasn't sure if I should do 4 or 5 pm.

Lastly, does anyone have prices for the rehearsal dinner and do you get to actually walk through the wedding with your party the night before?

So many questions!!

We did a symbolic ceremony and I was concerned about not being able to understand the officiant, so we asked one of my brothers to do it! I loved it, as it was so much more personal and we got to write the entire ceremony ourselves.

Hi Ladies...

Where did you purchase your paper lanterns??

:)

We purchased our lanterns from justartifacts as well. We also bought the LED lights for them from the same website, and in Castaways the lights made a HUGE difference.

Hi Ladies,

You all have been so helpful!

Does anyone know how long the aisle is for the pergola location? I'm trying to see how many rose petals to buy.

I've posted some photos below with the dimensions. I have no idea where these originally came from though.

That is very detailed! I just got a bag of petals and let my flower girl do the rest!

Just tried to swap out photo package...I was very flexible and just wanted to trade for SOMETHING...she said absolutely nothing can be swapped...my travel agent even sent her screen shots of this site of previous brides saying she would! ...still no luck :/

We had no luck swapping things either. The only thing they did offer for us was for the private shuttle to bring us to a different resort where we went for a mini-honeymoon after, rather than back to the airport.

We didn't use the videographer at all, and since we brought down our own photographer we had the package photographer take pictures during cocktail hour, since we were off taking our own photos. After seeing the resort photographers pictures I'm happy we brought our own down with us.

It's official!! NOVEMBER 6th, 2014!!!

Having a problem with dinner reception costs... we are going to have almost 75 guests. That's an additional about $8000 for dinner!! What else have people done with large groups? That cost is just insane for an all inclusive.

Also, can people share their timeline they used for the 3 hour reception.

How long was your meeting with the wedding coordinator and who did you bring with you?

Yay! That was our original date but we ended up moving it to October 23 so my uncle who is a minister can marry us! When will you be there? We are there October 18 to November 1. We are also going to have a large group at least 75, maybe up to 100 and the costs are soaring! Any ideas to keep the costs down are more than welcome!

I really want a photographer but I am having a hard time setting a budget with all the people joining us!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
