OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

the moments bar is great, it overlooks the beach so you get the whole beachy vibe. The bartenders are also pretty nice and will let you play your Ipod if you ask. Def the best spot there. We stayed at the jade last fall and are getting married there in sept. Thank god ive been there, makes planning that much easier!

Yeah, at the Mix bar every day (except Wednesdays) Darius is the bartender. He was definitely the best employee we met at Now Jade. Super cool guy, would be a great party if he was the bartender!

When it comes to customs in Mexico, I know that each person can bring down $300USD worth of goods in their luggage duty free. My question is, do decorations count towards this total since it's something I'll also be bringing back (how is it different from the clothes in my suitcase or other person items). I understand that anything I'll be giving away like (welcome bags stuff) has to count towards this total. When I looks on the Mexican customs website it said that "wedding party" items were exempt from this... I assume that means dress and rings, but I was curious if it also meant decorations.

Any feedback would help! I leave in 9 days :) :) :)

Thanks for the prod - I suppose today is a slow workday and I'm possibly STILL a bit hungover from New Years. I'll work on it today :)

I believe it's only gifts that count towards the $300 limit, but bring receipts for your decorations anyways. I had ours in two separate piles just in case.

We actually got flagged for search, but they never asked for receipts (and not because we hit the red light even, they didn't like the looks of the paper lanterns in the x-ray scanner, and wanted to search our bags to see what they were).

You'll have a great time! OH and I can't emphasize enough, bring bug spray (THE STRONGEST YOU CAN FIND) and USE IT.

Wow! You are in the same boat as I am!! We are going to be around 85 adults and 20 kids! I am also trying to cut costs some place but I still want to have my dream wedding!! Any ideas people have would be awesome!!

I am also trying to get all my posts so I can actually see everything on here, it is taking so long!

I am also in the same boat, and in total panic mode. one of the main reasons we are getting married away is to cut costs, and having 75 adults and 8 kids booked is not helping. Ahhhh! we can be stressed together? when is your wedding? hehe

Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see your wedding pics!

Congratz!!   :o)

Thanks ironman, this is awesome!

wish i could see the darn attachments!

We are booked for October 23, 2014! Just sent out our save the dates yesterday!

We already have over 50 booked and none of my family has booked, we both have pretty big families who wouldn't miss it for the world! The costs seem a little scary but it is put into perspective when I think about how much it would have cost to have a wedding at home! I am trying not to stress, just gotta take it all in stride and enjoy it! It makes me pretty emotional just to think we know this many people who are willing to spend so much to be there with us to celebrate our day! Haha my fiancé thinks I am nuts! All the advice I can get it awesome though!

When is your wedding date?

I agree with you - its a great feeling knowing so many people are able to make it for our special day, but it was still a little shocking at first if you know what i mean! i also have a huge family, really was not expecting most people to make it.

our date is November 24, 2014 :) so exciting!!!

my parents are at the resort as we speak so that has been very helpful and reassuring!

That's great that your parents are there! My sister and her husband stopped in for dinner and a tour when they were just there in November. She has nothing but good things to say! Where are you doing your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception?

We chose the beach, the mix bar, and the bamboo room.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
