Hey Everyone!

Im about 7 months away from our wedding and although i still have time it seems like its coming so fast!!!! Im going to order invitations soon and im thinking of mailing them out beginning of january and asking for the RSVP by March 1st. Our wedding is may 16th.. does this timing sound about right?

For past brides or any brides to be.. has anyone not given the dj a set list of songs and just let them wing it? I am going to give a few specific songs that must be played like our wedding song and mother son and father daughter dances but I am just soo bad with remembering names of songs and artists... Im thinking about just telling the DJ the type of music we like and hopefully they will just play good songs? I dont know if this is risky to do... any suggestions? OHHH and one more thing.. where are you ladies planning on going for your honey moon if you plan on leaving now jade?   I want to move onto a different resort  still in riviera maya area for about 5 or 6 days to honeymoon but not sure where to go.

Hi Emma,

I am getting married at Now Jade May 17, 2014! Woohooo. I also feel like time is flying, and I really haven't done much aside from sending out Save the Dates, getting my wedding dress, and getting my bridal party booked. I am planning to get my Invites out at some point in November - December and I'd like to have the RSVP by probably February. I just want to know what's going on a little bit early.

As far as the honeymoon is concerned, we haven't booked yet but we are thinking about El Dorado Resort & Spa. We are only going to stay for 3 or 4 nights because of we are spending 6 nights at Now Jade.

Have you had much contact with Pilar or anyone from the Now Jade resort yet? I haven't had any, but I figure I still have time.

Mandy

It's never to early to talk with the wedding planners at the resort.  That way you can at least lock in your locations for the ceremony and reception.

Ooooh I am stuck as to what cake to choose so thanks for this i will have a look, Can anyone advise on the devine menu they chose for dinner and what it was like? xxx
Hi there, We had scallops and shrimp to start, cheese ravioli, beef fillet and shrimp followed by nougat moose and it was delicious! You can mix and match from all the menus if you have the Devine. The food at the hotel is all very good so if you like the sound of it it is going to be nice. Tash

Are there any past brides out there that took hair extensions with them.........if so was the Spa ok with using them? i have some clip in ones which I just want for volume really? Or are there any brides that are still yet to wed that are taking them? xx
Hi there, I bought a pony tail extension with me as I thought my hair was too short, it turned out we couldn't use it as it was treated to stay straight but the salon knew how to use it, explained why we were unable to use it and in the end managed to do my hair how I wanted without using Antthing. The ladies in the salon are very good at what the do and as long as your extensions are real untreated hair they will be able to use them. Hope this helps Rash

The set up for the chairs is included for the ceremony but to move them to the reception is another 40 dollors. Also what we have just found out is that I you pay by credit card you have a handling fee plus a lower exchange rate than if you pay in cash so we just got stung for an extra £200 because no one told us this before hand.
Try to pay as much in cash as possible.

The food is the only difference. All are 4 courses but you can mix and match your menu.
Hope this helps x

I spoke with Isela about this last night after reading your post.  She informed me that this must have been brought on by the credit card company, because what you see on your contract, that is what you pay, no additional fees.  So, you are able to use a card without any penalties (unless your card issues a fee for international travel)

I work for a bank in credit card department and the difference you will see is callled a foriegn transaction fee. Standard ftf (foreign transaction fee) is 3% of each transaction processes outside of us dollars. Only amex has no ftf but charge 1% conversion rate.

Hi Ladies!

I'm a Now Jade bride but I got a while to go until next June! I've been reading this forum and it has been really helpful! And congrats to all the brides getting married in the few days there!

I'm confused on who's the wedding planner there now? Is it Isela now? or is Pilar still in action? I've booked my package and had a few questions somewhat answered by Pilar but it sounds like Isela has taken over? Can someone clear this up?

Thanks!

I just checked my credit card bill from when we paid the deposit and we weren't charged a foreign transaction fee. We were charged exactly $500. This is with Chase Freedom. However, the fine print in the wedding contract states that they will bill you in pesos on the remaining balance so depending on the exchange rate it might be a little off. At least that is what I remember.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
