HI Ladies! So its officially 45 days out for us (OMG) I sent in all my forms, just waiting on confirmation of DJ and hair and make up appointments which leads me to my question...Our ceremony is at 4PM and we may do a first look but will also be doing pictures prior to that.  When should I get my hair and make up done, I also have 5 others who are all getting hair and make up done?  I was thinking of starting at 11AM, any thoughts appreciated!!!

Good morning Now Jade Brides!! We are almost 3 motnhs away (time is going way to fast) and I know I have seen this answered on here before, but I cannot find it anywhere, so i appologize for a repeat question! Are we allowed to bring fake sea shells into Mexico? I am using them as part of my centerpeices and bought them from Party city. I am terrified of getting questioned at the airport and them taknig stuff away. Also, i wil be brining my welcome bags down to give out at the welcome reception. How much is each person allowed to bring into Mexico? Any other tips, advise, or helpful info would be SO helpful! Thank you!!

Are they fake shells? Like made out of plastic? I can't see how those would be a problem. I've read threads on here where people bring in dried starfish without any problem.

We leave a week from today for our wedding! Yikes! I also saw that there is a tropical depression forming set to hit cancun, so I'm pretty nervous about that! Anyway, I got an email from Deisy (whom I've been talking to for over a year and met in person to discuss all the details), that our wedding coordinator has now changed to Isela. This makes me kinda nervous! Has anyone had Isela or is she new?

Thanks,

Lauren

Hi! I noticed your question re: shells and the welcome bags, and wanted to share my experience.

We took real shells & dried starfish for our wedding in Riviera Maya, and had no issues with customs. You'll be fine with fake shells!

For the welcome bags - the rule is that each person can bring $300 worth of gifts into Mexico without paying any import taxes. If you think you'll have more than that, you may want to split it up among family/guests who are also traveling, and ensure they have the receipts (or copies of the receipts) for what they are carrying.

Your decorations, dress, etc. count as personal items, not gifts, so you don't need to include that in the total. Just the items you are actually giving to your guests.

Hope that helps!

Thank you so much Allie, that really makes me feel better! I have another question which I am not sure if you will be able to answer or not. Did you have to pay for the dance floor? I am looking at the planning booklet and just noticed that they charge $1200.00 for a dance floor for 50-100 people.....WHAT! what is that charge for? I do not need anythign special, and have left room for a dancfloor in my seating chart so I do not want to be paying that. Also, in my planning spreadsheet, under recpetion, there is "cocktails per person per hour"....what is this for? I didnt know that we had to pay for cocktails per hour..?? I have tried asking Deisy these questions but never really get a clear response. Thanks so much!!

Hi Julie!

I got married the night of 9/7 at Now Jade.  I saw your wedding party that day in the blue shirts.  Congratulations!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
