She wrote back saying that Castaways was the perfect place for the number of people we had. That was all she said.

Then a few minutes later I got a second email saying we could do a garden location, but that it would cost $350 plus 11% tax (mandatory) for lighting.

I guess we'll just stay in Castaways for now, despite my fears of the heat and the layout. I thought I had seen a photo someone posted of a Castaways floor plan, but of course now I can't find it saved anywhere on my hard drive.

Having been to the Riviera Maya in February, June, and September, I can tell you with absolute certainty that June and September are HOTTTTT and humid.  I love the heat, but it was really hot.  February was wonderful temperature and I am sure December will be the same.  I am getting married in November and the temperature can fluctuate from 22-28 degrees Celsius from what I understand.

I will definitely keep your comments in mind!

Are you strictly looking at AI options in Playa?  If not I have a few recommendations.  Including my wedding, I have been to the area 4 times and know it pretty well... Let me know and maybe provide an approximate price point per night

Knowing my family (and his) they will definitely want an AI.  :( This would be a LOT simpler if they didn't!

Has or is anyone brought paper lanterns to tie to the ceiling (I believe there is a large light fixture) of the bamboo room for your reception?  If so, can you tell me how many you brought/are bringing for that?  20, 30?  And were they different sizes? Just trying to figure out what would look best in that room for additional decor. Thanks!!

I have the same question, but about Castaways!

I have the same question, but about Castaways!
I honestly would not even worry about bringing the paper lanterns as decor, I don't think it's needed in either location... Everything is beautiful just the way it is... This is one thing that was on my list since day 1 but time got away from me & I never got them, I'm happy I didn't waste the money or luggage space! (Just my opinion)

Hey guys, its been ages since my last post, as now I seem to have gotten over my initial excitement of getting confirmation!!!!

I have a question and I hope someone can help...

Ive got several outside vendors planned/booked for our wedding....

We are having Sweetfire photography (2 people)..... Cancun Wedding Video (not sure how many people, probs 2).... and Luka Makeup Studio (for both hair and makeup- I think 2 people again)

Will pilar charge me for all these people to come onto the resort???

Gosh the price seems to be getting more and more by the day, I am hoping that she will waiver the outside vendor free.

I was going to bring my own lanterns but it just didn`t happen prior to leaving for Mexico.  I had told Pilar I was bringing them so she asked for them to set up, I told her not to worry about it since it wasn`t a priority but Pilar was able to get some and surprised me by adding them to the Bamboo Room for us.  You can see from this picture we had about 9-10 and it looked great! They were in 2 or 3 different sizes but I`m not sure what the dimensions were.  The room is beautiful so it will look great with or with out lanterns tho :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
