OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! We're back. I'll try and put up a full review later, but just wanted to post a couple of things.

1) Other people have said it, but I really want to say it again: Schedule your wedding EARLY in your trip. Before you get sunburned, before you get sick, and, if you don't get sick, before you outgrow your dress! My dress fit perfectly before I left for Mexico - it was mighty uncomfortable by the time we got married!7

2) I asked about substituting the package photography for a photobooth - the answer was that the photography was a $150 credit, period. So the $1000 photobooth price would be $850. We used the resort photography for our welcome dinner instead, and I'm really glad that's all we used it for. The photos were okay, but that's all. And there was no editing.

3) I was worried about the bamboo room being too big for our small group (20), but it was fine! If you want a private reception, and you want air-conditioning, this is your only option!

4) If you are trying to conserve on decorations, they can re-use your chair bows from the ceremony as table runners at the reception!

5) I went back and forth trying to decide whether to get my own fake flowers or use the resort for my bouquet. I ended up getting my own, and using the included bride bouquet for two smaller bridesmaids bouquets, and again, really glad I did it that way. The resort flowers were okay, but would have been a big upcharge to get the flowers and colors that I wanted. For example: hydrangeas are not available, only white callas in the eternity level, and orchids are premium.

6) We were told the cake would be decorated to match our colors - do not expect that to be the case. Our colors were grape and indigo. Our cake came out decorated with white flowers. I'd armed my maid of honor with some extra silk flowers that matched my bouquet, and we tossed those on the cake. I didn't really care about the cake, so not a big deal to me, but you might want to be very explicit if you do care about that.

It was soooooooo hot, we all made the best of it but if I could go back in time I would have scheduled the Bamboo Room... If your having your wedding in June, do not choose castaways! Other than that, I would not have changed a thing!!

Hi Shannon, Congratulations!!!! We are booked for Castaways in November. Is it a nice place just too hot? Do you think it would be okay in a cooler month like November?

Thanks,

Trisha

We're booked for Castaways in December and I have the same concerns! I saw that they rent fans for Castaways, wonder if it's needed in the fall/winter months? Other than that, how was the space?

I'm worried it will be too big of a venue for the group we have (approx. 35 kids/adults).

Hi! I emailed a Travel Agency i found on a forum Wright Travel and Wendy Hicks contacted me soon after! She has been awesome so far and I recently asked her for 2014 group rates! I'm not sure if they can provide you with October rates since its still pretty early but i would def recommend contacting them! Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone!! My name is Amanda and have just reserved my wedding at Now Jade for July 26, 2014! Very excited and Deisy is my wedding coordinator so I hope to get more info on this site.  Our details are:

Wedding: Pergola 5pm

Cocktail Hour: Mix Bar 6pm

Reception: Bamboo Room 7pm-11pm

Got everything confirmed and deposits paid so we are a go! I have loved Now Jade since I started looking over a year ago when I got engaged.  After reading lots of posts on here I'm not gonna sweat some of the small stuff and try to organize as much as I can on here and work out the details when we arrive. I'm sure no matter what it will be great.  We have about 30 people + coming from both the UK (where I live) and from the US (where I'm from.)

Cant wait to get more info and see everyone's reviews and pics!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
