Thanks for the compliments!  I will pass them on to Lori!  As for Cinco de Mayo, it is a holiday that is mostly celebrated in the US and only regionally here in Mexico (pretty much only in the state of Puebla where the battle took place).  You can check out WIKI - Cinco de Mayo for a little more history.  The largest celebration would be on the 16th of September which is the Mexican independence day.  There are big celebrations in town and a very large fair set up downtown.

Happy Planning!

I guess I have a lot to say because it's pretty long...sorry. But hopefully there's something useful to take from it.

Thanks for the review... Was it worth staying on the preferred side?? We also upgraded our room to an ocean view but we are debating on staying with our guests on the regular side.

Thank you for your review ChocoTaco, I was anxiously awaiting your feedback and most importantly congratulations. I'm sure I will have additional questions, but I wanted to know did your guests pay for transportation to the resort. If so, what was the average cost also are there activities, cigar rolling, volleyball, or zumba classes that I arrange for guest prior to my arrival with Daisy or Pilar. I want to draft an itinerary for guest.

After being at the resort I can honestly say that I would have been happy with a standard suite, but was happy that we were preferred guests. The preferred lounge stocks liquor that is not available anywhere else on the resort; this was a bonus since Justin's go-to drink is Crown Royal which would not have been available if not preferred.  Mini bar's on the preferred side are stocked with mini liquor bottles.  I had multiple guests on the non-preferred side request these to no avail.  The rooms area  bit larger, but equally as nice.  Many of the ocean view standard rooms now face a construction site; all of the preferred rooms have a clear ocean view/front. It was also nice to have free wifi.

Me and my guest were only at Now Jade for 3 to 4 nights and half of us relocated to Play del Carmen for 3 to 7 nights after. Understanding the Riviera Maya from previous trips, we reserved these types of activities for Playa del Carmen where we knew the prices wouldn't be so inflated. As such, I don't know what kind of activities are available at NJ, because we never inquired or had intentions of doing anything there.

Transfers were set-up at a discounted rate by my TA (Teresa Stauring - Vacations4Less) and were available for reservations via a link and group code she provided.  Rates were based on the number of passengers, but started at $40 up to 3 people and increased from there.

I don't see the need or purpose to rent a car while staying at an AI and would arrange for transportation or get cabs for any excursions or trips into town.  If you have never been to the area, it should be known that the drivers are a bit scary and by no means am I a timid driver. If you choose to rent a vehicle, I would advise opting for full coverage insurance.

Hey Tova,

What is in the mini bars on the standard side? Is it only beer and water? No liquor at all?

Ugh, I just need to vent.. I've been so patient throughout this whole planning process. I've emailed Pilar maybe 2-3 times in 15 months. We are now 11 days away from our wedding and I have yet to receive anything from her since I sent our planning form about 45 days ago. I am now starting to become a little frustrated. We need our budget form like now! I do understand she's busy, and I am very laid back and confident that everything will work out once we arrive & have our meeting, but we need this planning/budget form to know how much this wedding is going to cost us! I know she's busy dealing with weddings that are going on right now, but I also feel that we are close enough to our date to become a priority, just at least send us the budget form is all I ask :-) I've made an estimate myself in excel that I feel is pretty accurate based on our headcount but I'd feel a bit better about it if she would actually send me theirs so I can see how close my estimate is. I'm sure there is some kind of added cost that I may have missed. I called the resort yesterday and left a message for her to call me back & also emailed Olivia who runs Jades FB page. Hoping I can get a response today!

Besides that, I am ready! I started packing yesterday and was able to fit all of our wedding things and welcome bag supplies into one large bag and it weighed 44 lbs! That was my goal, not to have more than 1 extra bag for the wedding supplies and welcome bags and to keep it below 50 lbs! It was hard, seeing that we have 64 guest. We kept our welcome bags and decor fairly simple for this exact reason!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
