Wow! thanks for this info!! I will def be checking out orientaltrading and avon books! I know that i want to do welcome bags but i have yet to have started any research... When did you start purchasing items? My big day isnt till next May.

We're just under 7 months out and I'm starting to think about them, but not purchase quite yet. I want to make sure we have a good idea of our #'s, so I don't end up underbuying and then having mix & match stuff, or over buying and having a ton of leftovers and wasted $$.

Hey Ladies,

So i wont be getting married until may 2014 but will definitely be doing welcome bags.. When is a good time to start buying all the supplies? I guess once I have a head count is the best way.. Also, how soon before should i send out my actual invites? I sent out my save the dates then end of april beginning of may so like exactly one year to the wedding.. I heard you should send out invites around 5 months prior and make the rsvp date 2 months prior. Does this sound about right? I know Pilar needs all the info about 45 days prior to the wedding date.

Just a note, I didn't remember to bring false lashes with me, and they do not sell them at the resort so I had to go without. So remember to pack them! :)  Another bride answered that they did have glue when she was there, so that part might be good.  I'd bring some just to be sure if possible.

Hi EmmA1025,  My girlfriend had suggested I start buying items when I saw them on sale so I would not feel rushed at the end.  So far, it has been a relief to get things out of the way.  In terms of welcome bag stuff, I am waiting until I get the final headcount, but I have started to look at what I am interested in to include.  Save the dates went out 9 mos prior.  Wedding invites were scheduled to go out 5 mos prior but went out 4 mos prior... no stress there.  The invites will get addressed when they do.  The rsvps are due 2 mos prior so I can get back to the resort.

I have 3.5 mos left and yes, there is plenty to do but at the same time no matter what it will turn out to be a beautiful celebration.  You are definitely be on track.  It was stressful the first 4 mos but now it is fun thinking of the little details that makes the wedding our own.

Good luck!

Hi all, Quick question... When did you order your DJ through Pilar? I know we have to send in the form 45 days before but did you set up the DJ or anything other vendors before this date? Thanks for all of your help, Trisha.

I sent her an email a few months before my wedding requesting a DJ.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
