We aren't having too many extras, so others may know more! :)

Thank you for this information. As long as it is not on the total bill then lol!! We have the moments package too and for us the most important part was the amount of photo's we take home with us so most of our budget will go towards the photagrapher. I personally am camera shy so there is not many pics of me and my partner in our house so after losing 3 stone I want to make sure we have some pretty good pics to remember our day.

We started out with lots of extras but after re-looking at our plan we have eliminated lots of things to fit within our budget so we are not having too many extras either.  I was going to have bouquets for my bridesmaids but we have deiced that it is an expense we dont really need so my girls will have simple feather fans.

At the cocktail hour we will only pay for the appetizers and not the cocktails (we are all inclusive so I dont see the point)

Lunch we will have a part sectioned off at the buffett and as we are having a reception at home we are not spending money on a DJ and table set ups and centre pieces etc. and thats why we opted for a semi private reception.

We are having a non-private dinner in one of the restaurants but because there is 21 of us I am assuming we get charged 20usd per person for the set up fee? we have asked if we could pay the 500usd to move this to the private terrace of the restaurant to make it a little more personal and give us the opportunity to play our own music because you are obviously not allowed to in the restaurant out of respect to other diners.

I just hope Pilar can still pull off a special day for us :-)

xxx

They are actually charging us $22 per person eventhough the brochure says $20, but the brochure has a small note that prices are subject to change...so i thought I'd forewarn you, but maybe you'll get lucky! ;) We are paying the $500 for private, we have the terrace, but i may change it because everyone is saying it's a little tight. we'll see!

As for the cocktail hour, we had originally asked for just hour devours also, but my travel agent talked me out of it all together (she knew we didn't want to spend the extra money and i just wanted to make sure everything flowed smoothly and we didn't lose any guests between the reception and dinner).  I am just going to make a event timeline for that day and have everyone meet at the bar while we take pictures, i'm sure it will work out perfectly and it saved me $800.

Now I'm going to try and relax since there is only 2 months to go and we decided this would be a good time to buy and sell a house, are we nuts or what???? Anyways, thanks for the response, I hope you're day is perfect as I'm sure it will be!!

I appreciate you telling us, I would feel horrible if my guests got sick. Looking for cups tomorrow!!!

Hi Kmlane13,

My wedding date is the week before yours and we both are coming from I so we may see each other in passing!!! Anywhoback on topic, based on the feedback and comments,  I have decided to order cups as well and used DiscountMugs.com. They have decent pricing, but there is not a charge for shipping and 5% discount( not much, but something).

We get there on the July 8, will you still be there??? If so, we'll definitely have to have a cocktail and celebrate!! :)  I'll check discountmugs.com today!!

I had my wedding on the beach and everyone took their shoes off right at the end of the sidewalk and just left them there until the end of the ceremony. There are places by the pool that you can wash your feet but the sand didn't really stick to anyone's feet since they weren't wet. I really didn't have a lot of people walking around during our ceremony. There were some people that watched but for the most part everyone kept their distance. It is better if they set it up right by the beach bar instead of in front of the pool. I actually saw a lot of people watching weddings on the pergola and saw quite a few people just stand in the back to watch ceremonies (which I think is weird and kind of rude!) Any of the locations will get on lookers so it is all in what your preference is.

My uncle was saying the same thing...things look much more private than they are in reality. The fountain and seaside look more private than the beach, but maybe not?

Yea I did notice the 22usd in the brochure! we are still in two minds about the hor devoures also because if we have lunch at the buffett im not sure we need to.

What time are you getting married?  i was worried i would lose my guests whilst pics were being taken but maybe not if they know lunch is booked lol

not long for you now...how exciting :-)

Okay, now I'm at work and am totally distracted thinking about welcome bags. Does anyone know a good cheap source to get plain cloth bags? It might be the latte I'm drinking, but I'm getting pretty giddy thinking about fun travel mugs and "to have and to hold and to keep your drink cold" labels to go on them!

I was thinking about just using a nice brown paper bag with a handle, but if we used cloth people could also use them as a beach bag? Guess it will depend on the pricing for the reusable ones. Anyone have any suggestions?

Not just for the mugs, but discount mugs.com had tons of totes and bags that you could check out... I ordered all my stuff from there!

Oh awesome, I didn't even look at their other categories. I will check them out. Shipping to Canada is atrocious, but fortunately I have a brother in the US I can have things sent to!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
