I too get married on the 1st of November and if it is any consolation I am one of 6 and I only have 1 brother coming, my sister (my only sister) is not coming either due to finances! i was totally gutted but always new that quite possibly loved ones would not be able to attend for one reason or another.

Are you sure your sister can not fly my best friend has just come back from Canada flying from Birmingham and she is due her baby in 4-5 weeks?

My only concern for you is your mom, i too would be very upset if my mom or dad was not there and that was the only reason we decided we would ever cancel if our parents couldnt be there...just a thought maybe the ones that are dropping out could help your mom out?

Our best man told us last night that he doesnt think he can get the funds together for 29th June which is when the balance is due, which we are also upset about so i have had to email my wedding co-ordianator today to ask for extra time, I hope they can because I do think that them requiring the full payment 17 weeks prior is abit much i always thought it was 10 weeks before, but hey ho it is what it is.

If our best man can not come then we have decided that our 7 year old son will step up to the mark and be his daddy's best man :-)

wwe have lots of family and friends that are unable to attend so we will be having a reception on our return so at least I can wear my dress all over again :-)

I truly hope you can sort things out and you can still have your special day on the 1st November :-)

xxxx

Thanks Remykion, I am trying to find a way to have my mom there. We are waiting to see what my sisters doctor says regarding her flying. We decided to not cancel and have the wedding because I know I will regret it if we don't. We just realized we will make the best of it with who is there. Btw it is soo exciting we will both be getting married the same day!! Where are you having the ceremony?

I am sure it will all work out for you.  I hope your sister's doctor gives her the go ahead to be able to fly....I know my sister not being there has hurt me the most but I do understand when they have to teenage sons aswell as themselves to cater fo

I have just spoken to perfect weddings abroad and although they have not given me a definate answer one of the ladys seems to think it wont be a problem to extend the final due payment date for a month or 2 but I am just awaiting the call of confirmation (fingers crossed) i just want to know so that I can put my guests minds at rest.

We are marrying on the beach at 11am ......you at the pergola???

Sorry for freaking everyone out about the glasses at the pool - but I promise you that how they are cleaning the glasses (at the swim up bar in the activity pool) is not sanitary.  Have a look at the "cleaning bucket" they are using.  The returned glasses are being dumped into a sink and then scrubbed quickly in the bin - then placed on the bar for new drinks. Our following week was spent at Secrets - and they are using a dump, scrub, soak and rinse method.  More than once I was poured a drink in a soap covered glass at Now Jade. I am honestly just trying to warn you all that if you are doing cups or glasses in your OOT bags - use them.  Those that did, did not get sick.  I travel 3 times a year to Mexico, and I am used to the effects of too much food, sun and drinks - but even I was feeling ill by day 4.  Once I switched to my own cup, I felt better.  The resort is stunning, the food is amazing - this was just the only concerning part.  Of our group of 50 - 11 people were very ill - and one is still treating the intestinal infection she got.  She did not leave the resort, and only had 2-3 alcoholic drinks per day.  Take the warning as you like - I am only trying to help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
