She told us that it is included for one event only- the ceremony and reception being two separate events :(  We tried, believe me.  I asked her why we couldn't reserve the sound system at 4pm and return it at 8pm (for "one" event" but she said no, because it would involve set-up at two separate locations. Boo...

Oh, so if we only need it for the ceremony, that means it is included?

That's how we understand it, yea.  I guess better to double-check though, seems like there are lots of inconsistencies!

Thanks for the info - I'll double check our contract, but I don't think this was listed. I guess it's just up to us if we want to pay for the extra dinner then.

Not sure how long we're staying past our wedding date yet, but maybe I'll see you there!

Past Brides,

I'm suddenly so full of questions! How big is the wedding cake included in the Divine Package? As of right now, we are expecting around 59 guest! WAY more than we planned for! We originally thought about 35ish. Holy costs are adding up! Do you think we would be okay to add extra wedding cake for maybe around 25 extra people instead of 34 extra people?

Also, the h'odourves for cocktail hour, instead of adding 34 extra, do you think we could get by with adding 25 extra also? I know they include 5 for each person, we are just trying to pinch pennys where we can! Hoping this will work. I've heard some brides who had 35 people total didn't add any extras and were fine. So I'm hoping I can get a way with just adding some extra but not enough for every single guest to have 5 each.

My idea of a small intimate wedding is totally out the window! :-(

I'm trying to come to terms with having so many people, the majority of which I don't even know and have never even met! Still better than having a local wedding with 200+ guest attending!

Does anyone know if the DJ mc's at the reception?  Talks rather than just play music?  I sent Deisy an email about two weeks ago and she still hasnt gotten back to me! so frustrating since we are only a month away from leaving.  Does anyone know if there would be enough room on the carnival terrace for dancing?  We are having about 35 people.

Thanks!

I don't know about the chair pricing, as we stuck with the banquet chairs & covers- we're trying to skimp whereever we can!

About the music:

We traded out the live music for the DJ- 2 hours of service.  So we're using an ipad for the ceremony (AND paying $150 + tax fee)- yep they charge you for that.    We're using the ipad for the first hour of the reception (for dinner, 7-8pm), then the DJ is coming at 8, staying until 10pm.  I couldn't believe they are charging us for the sound system for the ceremony, but we've gone back and forth numerous times with Pilar, and our agent has as well, and no luck. I've attached my invoice here below- this is after we cut back on so much stuff that we didn't want to, but we really couldn't afford all the extras we wanted :(

Quick question Kristen,

I don't see it listed on here, but is the 11% tax and 18% service fee added to EVERYTHING or just the food?

Can I interject here, even though I'm not a past bride? LOL!  Food for thought (literally), the meals all come with a dessert as well, so we did not increase the wedding cake.  I've read reviews on here that say there was leftover cake, so that seems like a waste.  And we also are not upping the hors d'oeuvres because 15 of our guests are in the wedding party and will be with us doing pics etc- so that's something to think about.  Also, we need to remember that we're at an all-inclusive resort and there's lots of options if people want to snack.  It's so stressful, worrying about these things, when in reality, i dont think people will care or notice.

Speaking of- we now have my brother-in-law deciding he wants to come (originally didnt think he could get the time off work).  8 weeks out.  so frustrating!!!  And we also have a guest coming that used to work with Anthony, I have met him once.  Who does that?  I feel like the destinaiton wedding is supposed to be small and intimate.  He was also thinking of inviting some dude on his hockey team that I have never met and I put my foot down.  Come ON. !!!!

It looks like she's charging it on the sound system as well, so it ends up at $166.50, instead of $150.00.

I guess I just pictured my fi seeing me for the first time that day when I begin walking down the aisle. I am starting to come around a little so we can enjoy part of cocktail hour, but my traditional/romantic side kicks in and says not to do a first look...so I don't know.

Weâ€re doing a first look, and based on the feedback that Iâ€ve received, it doesnâ€t take away from the moment when you walk down the aisle.   But Iâ€m contemplating not wearing my veil for the first look and saving it for when he seeâ€s me walking down the aisle during our ceremony.  I also wanted a first look because this will be the time when I give him my boudoir album.

I thought about that, but we opted to not get dessert because we had the wedding cake, so we would get 2 extra h'odourves at cocktail hour. And I already made my menus... Oh man, even if changed it, I doubt anyone will notice.. Under dessert on the menu, all I wrote was Wedding Cake anyways. Oh, I'm so confused! And we only have a maid of honor and 2 bestmen that will be taking pictures during cocktail hour to that's only 3 people missing it! It would just be soo embarrassing if we completely ran out of apps at cocktail hour!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
