Oh geez, I just checked it online and it says around 7:30.  Good lord. Again with the misinformation, not that it matters, but just one more thing I have to double-check because our agent got it wrong.  Thanks Shannon!

You should be perfect, I planned my reception for 5 since the sun sets a little after 7 so that would put us in the "golden hour" for photos during cocktail hour. My photographer we are bringing down is trying to talk us into doing a first look. How does everyone feel about this? I guess I just pictured my fi seeing me for the first time that day when I begin walking down the aisle. I am starting to come around a little so we can enjoy part of cocktail hour, but my traditional/romantic side kicks in and says not to do a first look...so I don't know.

I'm getting married at the Now Jade on January 24, 2014! We're very excited and have been doing some of the early planning. We've decided to go with an outside photographer, but I have a question on that to the brides that have used outside photographers as well. Do we have to provide dinner for the photographer? He will only be staying for about 1-1.5 hours of the reception including the dinner.

Also, I know that the Divine Package includes a guitarist or violinist at the ceremony. Does anybody know if we can give them specific songs to play or do they just play something generic?

We also are using an outside photographer, and have invited them for dinner as a good gesture, but it's not expected, I don't think- though I've heard some put meals in their contract.

I was also considering doing a "first look" or maybe a partial first look where we take some cute pictures together before the ceremony but the grooms eyes are closed or he has a blindfold on...I am curious to see what others think about this as well

I'm struggling with that too! I've seen some really sweet first-look pictures, but I think it might ruin the moment of me walking down the aisle, him seeing me the first time. I bet if I asked FI, he'd say he doesn't want to do first-look....oh, decisions. We still haven't sorted our ceremony music yet, how many songs do we need for the seating of the guests, bridal party processional, my walk....so complicated!

I love the first look pictures but I wouldn't want to do them. That's one of the few traditions we want to keep is him seeing me for the first time as I wash down the aisle. However, some of the pictures I have seen are so cute! Kristen - As for ceremony music, we are having 4 songs as guest wait (not sure if they will all be played, I just guessed) one song for processional (mothers, maid of honor, bestmen), one song for me & a recessional.

One week before my date! :)  I have seen in some contracts as well that dinner is required if they stay over 4-5 hours.

I'm the worst! But anyway this will also be our welcome dinner, not excluding anyone since we will have 25 people appx.

That is a good option.  Is there an extra charge?  I am still thinking of doing a private rehearsal dinner or something in town.  So many things to think about!  Thanks!!  Tara

Hi aarosenthall,

Do you mind sharing what you are doing for the private rehearsal dinner?  I am trying to decide to do the buffet, private dinner or have our group go into town.  Thanks so much!  Tara

Hi All,

Is anyone else getting married on April 18th?  We had booked a photographer a YEAR ago, but they have cancelled on us just today (disaster).  Just wondering if anyone might have one there already that day?

Thanks,

Jen

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
