I just got a message back stating that Doremix raised there prices this year and the resort is not using them as a resort DJ anymore. I'm assuming this is for new bookings like us. She stated we could still use Doremix but the charge would be a bit more, which we dont want to pay for. Deisy stated they now use AVI Company. Has anyone had them as their DJ? Any other DJ tips or suggestions?

Found a review on here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/now-jade-riviera-cancun/reviews/4708   Sounds pretty good, thank goodness!

We are doing the same thing but we were quoted $350 per additional hour! So much inconsistency! We really want a DJ, so we'll be paying it!

I am not bringing any vases - I am shipping down what I can, and it is more cost effective to just rent what I need.

Are you renting stuff from the resort? What are you renting? I was going to bring vases to put the bouquets in (these will be our centerpieces).. I wasn't sure if the resort could supply vases for this and if so what the cost would be.

We also haven't received a response from Pilar in almost a week.  We sent her our original planning form and got her invoice, which we almost threw up on haaha, so we adjusted some things and sent back a revised planning form, now just waiting for a revise bill.

I know everything falls together, but it's so hard to let go of the control!  We're in Ontario, our travel agent is in BC, and then throw Pilar into the mix, aned everything just takes forever!  So stressful.

As an aside- I just took a trip to Ikea yesterday and got a ton of stuff, white table lanterns, artificial orchids (which actually look pretty nice), and they have cylindrical vases on for $9.99 - a set of three, so we bought 3 sets- haven't figured out how we're transporting them yet...

I need to get out to Ikea soon! Although... I feel like I'm already bringing a lot of things. Need to get the carry-on suitcase out soon to see how it all fits. I'm dreading the airport! I will also have my 6 month old with me.. so add in a stroller, diaper bag, his luggage as well as the wedding dress and glass vases! Ugh, SCARY!!!

I'm wonder if there will be any brides at the resort while I'm there who are interested in renting or buying some of my decorations (vases, aisle runner, tissue pompoms...). HMmm

I'm sorry! I was quoted $350 for each additional hour.. that was a typo.

$350 per hour is the price listed on all of their paperwork per hour for a DJ or they have a 4 hour deal for $1,000. That's what we are opting for. Also, the reason we requested Doremix originally was since they seemed highly recommended. But I'm sure whom ever the resort goes with will be good.

I have a question about decor.  I am looking at ordering paper lantersn and have found 2 good sites, but I can't seem to find any shipping costs for either one.  Does anyone have any experience with ordering from paperlanternstore.com or justartifacts.com?   The pricing at paperlanternstore is cheaper, but not by much, so if the shipping is more, then I might go with justartifacts...

Thanks!

Thanks!

I purchased mine from paperlanternstore.com.  I purchased a few different sizes in a few different colors first (so I could check them out) and I ended up ordering mine through them.  They're cheap and the quality is nice.  I purchased the irregular ones as opposed to the normal ones, just for something a little different.  If you message me your address, I can send you one of mine (since I have a ton extra) just so you can check it out.

Shipping was about $10 or so, I think a little less - closer to $8.00; they shipped the lanterns via FedEx and arrived within three days.  I'm not sure how it will differ from you since you're in Canada, but I had a great experience with them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
