Does anyone know if we can have a free welcome party for my friends and family a day or two before the wedding?? We weren't going to do a rehearsal dinner, just wanted everyone to get together.  I've seen it on a thread but can't seem to find it.  Anyone that has heard this let me know, simple drinks, reserve a corner of the lobby or something like that with easy food like chips/dip.....Thanks in advance!!

Hey, yep, we arranged for one the night we arrive.  We had Pilar reserve a section of Carnival for us at no charge (no special service or anything, just a sectioned off area in the restaurant and a guaranteed reservation).  I also have read on here somewhere that she will reserve a section of the lobby for people- one bride did ask about chips and salsa or something, but I haven't seen that confirmed.

My understanding to have anything "private" in an area of the lobby you will need to pay for appetizers ($15 p/p plus tax and service fee) or cocktail service.  We are doing apps for our group, but not cocktail service since the bar is right there.

So I am having about 30 guests as of now and we are all party people. My concern is the dance floor is small on the terrace, but then I think if I switch to the bamboo room it will look awkward with only 30 guests and it being so big. Any thoughts????

Have you thought about having your reception in the Castaway Restaurant? It will be a private, have the outdoor feel, it has a bar inside and the dancefloor is a good size. Dancing is huge for us and we wanted to be able to comfortably do so and that's one of the main reasons we chose Castaway.

Hello Ladies!

We are getting married at the Now Jade on January 09 2014! We have 78 guests confirmed as of right now and have chosen the Divine wedding package. (things are starting to add up fast!) We are going to have the dinner in the Bamboo room, I am wanting to do a private buffet instead of having a selected plated dinner, has anyone done this? Also, we are having the ceremony at the Pergola, and I really love the look of the bamboo chairs, however, cannot justify spending the money on them! Does anyone know how much you can negotiate especially with having such a large group? I will take all of the tips and advise I can get!

Thanks so much everyone =)

So, I am kinda freaking out. I had one of my friends attempt to book a room for the wedding (arriving April 22 for 7 days). They are completely sold out!! I am worried there is a convention at the resort (which is horrible to deal with as a guest) - but I have no clue. On top of that, I have sent 4 unanswered emails to pilar - including our planning guide-and have heard nothing back. I guess with her it is what it is. When we visited in jan, she made us feel completely at ease - but a simple acknowledgement would be nice. I have also sent multiple emails to the concierge regarding our excursions - no answer there either. Anybody have any tips?? Less than 6 weeks today, and I need the loose ends tied. Mostly just venting, but arghhhhh

Hi  Lindsay,
My group will be there that week too - some arriving on the 24th and the rest on the 27th. My wedding is on the 29th.. and a long time ago when I enquired about having my wedding in the garden Pilar said it was not  possible as the events department had it reserved all week - but she wasn't sure what was going on yet.. but thats for the week after you are there..

I also am getting no responses from Pilar. I have lots planned but my big concern is the extra cost/total I will be paying. That would be nice to have from her. I'm sure she will come through when its our turn. If you need any advice or have questions let me know. Our wedding dates are sneaking up fast!!

Are you bringing vases down for your wedding?

I know you are stressed feeling but honestly don't worry - they are pros!  Pilar and Deisy are very busy with weddings that are occurring that day at the resort, meeting with couples who have arrived and are days out from their wedding and also the hundreds of other emails they get each day (plus checking in with couples to ensure pre-arranged events like rehearsals, welcome dinners etc are going as planned).  If you really need to speak with her I recommend calling the resort - you get her undivided attention and your questions are answered in a couple of minutes.

When I sent the planning guide in it was a few days (maybe even a week?) before she sent an email to acknowledge receiving it and then she sent along our invoice at a later date.  The planning form is comprehensive as you know so she has to go through it to create your invoice which causes a bit of a delay.  But again, don't worry, it will all be fantastic!

What address are you using for the concierge?  We found Nestor to be very efficient with communication (usually within 24-48 hours).

"Concierge Now Jade" <concierge1.nojrc@nowresorts.com>

but you may also want to try the Head Concierge Arely Lopez <chiefconcierge.nojrc@nowresorts.com>

OR the Social Media Contact, Olivia Rodriguez <sales10.nojrc@nowresorts.com>

she is definitely quick to respond (to redirect your emails to the appropriate person)

Hopefully this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
