OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

I totally agree, it seems like its just luck of the draw as to whether some fees get waived or not. We personally are not in the position to take that chance, so we're finding that we are starting to cut things that we really don't want to, but we definitely can't afford $5500 for the pkg. we have our travel agent from BPDW trying to liaise with Pilar but she even told us last wk that Pilar isn't flexible swapping out anything for anything else, when, in the past, she has.  Seems like they're becoming more strict. Thing is with the Divine pkg, there's a lot of stuff we don't necessarily want (ie. private transfers, couples massage) but wish we could use the "value" of those towards something else. I'm wondering if its best to try and negotiate once we get there.  Or maybe we should have just gone a la carte with the whole wedding. Sigh is right! :s Kristen
You bring up a good point in reference to going the a la carte route. Can you change your package at this point? Are there any past brides/grooms that used the free package and personalized their wedding by adding what they wanted?

Thats what we are doing...the basic Moments (free) package with adding the things that we will actually use. Thats a great plan for us.

Every bride and groom on here should realize what they're dealing with. IT is VERY common for Carribbean cultures to negotiate prices. And the Now Jade is no different. We got married there last August and they changed the price of renting the projector THREE TIMES because we complained that it was too high! We were seriously going to buy/bring our own and then they reduced the price to be more reasonable. The more wedding extras you get, the more you should negotiate with them, via email. Get it in writing. When we showed up at the resort they tried to charge us more again for things, but then we showed them what Pilar/Deisy had promised us already.

I believe they use their on-site contract company now "Adventure Photos". There are several photographers that work there, so if you're picky, you should do a test photo shoot with them on one of the days before your wedding, to see if he/she meshes well with you. It's free!! And you may even get a beautiful picture from it too!!

gorgeous flowers!! Something to keep in mind, if the resort can't get the color you want, they have a professional company that airbrushes them at no extra charge! That's right, they will make any flower any color for you!! We'd never heard of it before but they turned out really nice and no one even knew they were "painted"! Just thought I'd mention the option...

Getting married this Saturday at the Now Jade.  Originally leaving Wednesday but decided to move it up one day because of the potential snow storm in DC/Baltimore.

Weather looks fantastic and although I haven't heard from Pilar much, keeping my fingers crossed that everything will run smoothly.  Promise to write a detailed review and answer any questions upon my return.

Happy Wedding!!!! Let us all know how it went!!! We got married in August and the forecast said it would thunderstorm all week! Only rained once and it was for just a couple hours at night!!! Everything will be just awesome I'm sure of it!!!

I tried to calculate it from the bottom up, and unfortunately there was no savings - just the opposite in fact. We have 38 guests and my fiance prefers the Divine dinner, so 38 people x $53 = $2014, and that's just for the reception dinner alone, that does not include cocktail hour, cake, and champagne toast. Plus there's an $800 dance floor cost for the reception I noticed on the additional services section, and since the reception dinner is not included in the complimentary basic package, I assume that charge would also apply.

I am hoping that by purchasing a higher package above complimentary we will have more leverage in negotiating certain fees, or perhaps exchanging services we don't need for others we do. At this point though, based on reading both Now Jade threads several times, there is no rhyme or reason as to what fees can be waived, negotiated, exchanged, etc. so I'll just have to be diligent and hope for the best.

Chris

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
