OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am Brittany new to this thread and have to say that this thread is amazing!! My fiance and I have booked our wedding at the NOW Jade for 5/2/14 (I know I am really early!) I am just looking to get a early head start on my wedding planning and get as many questions answered as possible without having to email the busy wedding planners.   We had a couple of questions about the airport and travel.  The thread reads:

Airport & Travel

  • Read the customs form carefully. We got detained for two hours and fined for not declaring our wedding party gifts (Burberry sunglasses). You are allowed to bring in $300 per person of goods not for personal use (this includes all gifts, all OOT bag contents, etc). If we could do it again, we would give our wedding party their gifts before we left.

Question - How bad were the fines for not declaring your items? Do you think it would be best to send the OOT bags down via mail to avoid the costs?

  • If you are bringing in stuff you will have to pay taxes on, make sure you have the receipts!

Question - Does this include decor/centerpiece items that we bring?  Much of this stuff we have already purchased or were gifts and do not have the receipts, what happens if you don't have the receipts?

Again thanks for the information and anything that I can add as far as information I will be sure to add!!

Thank you!! I will look into that... not sure if it already taken for that day so I will have to email Pilar and ask...

So are you guys saying that if you have th Divine package and you are not using the photography you should get a $300 credit? We hired an outside photographer and I had asked Pilar about switching out the photography for something else and she told me it would only be a $150 credit.... $300 is MUCH better!

Hi.  This is our first post to this forum.  It has been a great resource so far for us in planning our Now Jade Wedding.

To start out, we have booked our wedding date at the Now Jade after a lot of research and thought.  We are on a semi-limited budget but we still wanted to do a destination wedding. It is just important to us to have a great time with our great friends and family in paradise.  We know will make it a good time no matter what. With that being the case we have chosen the Now Jade for our November 2013 wedding with the "Your Moments" wedding package.  Because we are realistically expecting about 50 guests, the Eternity & Devine packages do not seem to be a good fit for us since we would have to pay a lot more to add the additional 25 people (since only 25 are included).  With this being the case, we are going with the "Your Moments" package.  This does not include a formal dinner.

We are wondering if anyone has had their wedding at the Now Jade resort but just went with the "Your Moments" wedding package?   We are looking for feedback from people that have also chosen this package and to see if they added any type of dinner or reception or cocktails or dancing, etc.?  We want to offer something to our guests and are looking for some ideas that we maybe are not thinking of.  Currently we are thinking of doing hors d'oeuvres the night before the wedding in the lobby bar area, then the ceremony the next day.  For dinner that night we are going to do a reserved area in the buffet so that our guests have options on food choices.  We are a variety of tastes in our group.  Then we are looking into having dancing on one of the terraces with a DJ.

Any tips, input, suggestions, or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I was also told that it is only a $150 credit if you didn't want to use their photographer

I'm almost sure it is $300 towards Adventure Photos which is the resort photographer, this will not work if you opt to bring in an outside photographer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
