I have a quick question. My Fiance and I are thinking of leaving the Now Jade the day after we get married and travel to another resort about 45 minutes away which is still in Cancun but on the strip. My fiance's mom is really worried that it isn't safe for us to travel with the hotel transportation to another resort. I think it will be fine but she swears we will be kidnapped by cartel lol. Can anyone tell me if it is safe to travel through Cancun?

Thanks!!!

Michelle, I have been to Cancun and the Mayan area dozens of times.  It is safer than New York City.  You will be absolutely fine, I promise.

Katie,

I've been going back and forth with bringing the paper lanterns or not. I just can't decide. Did you have to bring any kind of fishing wire or something to hang them or did you just bring the lanterns and Pilar had all the supplies to hang? If I do decide to bring them, I'm not bringing doing any lights for them which I hear is just fine. They look pretty in your pictures, I'm just hesitant whether to spend the money on them or not. If you were doing it over again, would you still bring them? I'm also going to be in Castaways where you had your reception.

We are bringing lanterns down with it.  We got ours at paperlanternstore.com.  They were really cheap, but nice quality, and shipping was pretty quick.

I did bring fishing wire down for them to hang them up but I am sure that if you forgot to bring it they would have some anyways. If I were to do it again I would definitely still buy the paper lanterns. I bought mine from lunabazaar.com. I know they are kind of the "in" thing right now but I really loved how they looked in my pictures and they just were a little something extra with the decor. Honestly, I didn't bring that much decor down to Mexico tho so maybe that is why they stood out to me. The only thing that sucks is that now they are just laying around in my spare bedroom and I can't seem to get rid of them! I guess I will just throw them out but I hate doing that since I spent a good amount of money on them! haha

Wasn't one of your colors hot pink/fuchsia? If so, I'd buy those one's off you. That way, I'd only need to order white ones ;) Just let me know how much you'd see them for.

Really? I will have to look to make sure I have everything for them. I will tell you that they were used twice (Mexico and our reception at home) so they may have a a few small tears/holes in them but honestly you wouldn't know once they are hanging up. I understand if you don't want to buy them though for that reason! I would take like $15 for them plus shipping. Let me know! :)

Can I ask you ladies how far in advance did you all start looking at travel agents and prices? I do not travel often and I'm not sure how this works.  What time are January prices the lowest? Some are saying Spring but when do your guests have to pay by? Also did you include your travel agent info on your invitations or just on your websites?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
