OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies, I am looking at photographers right now, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I am really working within a tight budget but to me, the most important part of the wedding is the photography and I'm not sure I'm satisfied with Adventure Photos. I did contact Del Sol which was WAYYYY out of our price range. I also contacted Derek with Photos in Cancun and Gonzalo Nunez who were a bit more affordable.Does anyone have any recommendations? I just contacted Sascha Gluck as well. I would like to do about six to seven hours of photography on the day of to cover getting ready all the way through most of the reception. I was also thinking of doing a TTD the next day. My budget for this is probably about $3500. I also have the Divine package which includes photography, but I'm not sure what that covers. The only info it provides is that you get 24 photos. Does this just cover photography for the actual wedding ceremony? I was confused about that as well. Anyone have prior experience with using both an outside photographer and the resort photographer since it comes with the package?? Does anyone know what NOW Jade charges to bring an outside photographer? Is that the same as the wedding day pass ($55 I think)?? Also, has anyone had an experience with Adventure Photos (the resort photogs)?? I can't find any links to weddings they've done, and if I can't find anyone within my budget, I may just end up using them!! Thanks girls
The ones you mentioned are all great. I'm going with Dean Sanderson. He has amazing photos. He charges about $2450 for 6 hours and $850 for a trash the dress. Check out his portfolio here: http://www.deansandersonweddings.com/

@khunt- I love your wedding look! I have been searching all over for that same Lazaro sash and could not find one. I only found a used one that had a stain. Where did you find it? I also got my dress for a good price at Davids so I'm willing to splurge on the sash.
Lauren look what I just found online! http://www.weddingbee.com/classifieds/show-ad/?id=10549/ And http://www.weddingbee.com/classifieds/show-ad/?id=16771 !!! Kristen :)

Hi Ladies!

I am starting to get a bit concerned, I have been reading Trip Advisor and it seems every day more and more negative reviews are posted. When we booked it says all taxes and gratuities are included but a lot of guests say that the staff is always looking for tips. I don't mind tipping but I hope they aren't making you feel like you have to tip!

Another thing, people are saying the food is just OK. Has anyone been there recently? I just want to make sure the resort is amazing for my guests because they are paying to see my fiance and I get married and I want them to have a good time!!

Thanks!

The order of your reception can vary based on your preferrences, but here are a few options that I see most often:

6pm - Grand Entrance, Cut Cake, dinner is served

7:30 pm - Cake is served

8pm - first dance

6pm - Grand Entrance dinner is served

7:30 pm - Cake is cut and served... takes longer to serve when you first cut it at this time, so allow extra time for that.

8:15pm - first dance

6pm - Grand Entrance, First Dance, Cut Cake

6:30 pm - Dinner is served

8 pm - dance starts

I was quoted $350 plus tax per hour for the resort DJ. I do not believe Pilar will allow a swap for photographer and DJ. She is allowing a swap for the live music included in the Divine package for 2 hours of DJ time if you'd like to look into that.

Kelly,

I asked Deisy about swapping out the musician in the package for a DJ and this is what I got in response:

Also, will it be possible to exchange my live musician in the package for the DJ? I will pay some additional money since I'm I'm sure it won't be an equal swap. How many hours will the DJ be for this way?

A= Yes, I can to change the set live of music for 02 hours of dj, only let me tell you that the extra hour will be $ 350 USD plus 11% tax. J

Now, I know that there is some inconsistency about swapping, but that's what I was told.  If you want to keep the musician in the package, I'm not sure how much it would be; I would think the $350 USD plus tax, but maybe it's more money if you're adding the service..?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
