has anyone bought maracas at the market and how much were they?  also wondering if anyone knows if the long sparklers are available for purchase outside the resort or where to go for them?!  the resort wants $15  per sparkler!!!  any other brides having troubles with getting pilar switch out things in the wedding package ?  it seems like there is a lot of inconsistency with swaps.  i have seen multiple previous brides state the got "credits" or swaps but she will not let me switch anything and we purchased the divine package! ugh

I've read on these boards that some girls did by the maracas there, expecting them to be cheaper but I don't believe they were much cheaper. If you do a search for maracas, you may see the thread. I think they originally tried to charge her an outrageous amount but she was able to talk them down a bit. It still don't think they were cheaper than http://www.amols.com/catalog/medium-traditional-maracas, on that website they are $1.95 a pair. I don't think you can beat that.. Although it may be a hassle dragging them down but that's my plan :)

As for the swapping and credits, they are very inconsistent so I'm not sure. Hopefully they will be a little more lenient once we get down there :)

I just ordered hand painted authentic maracas from a supplier in Mexico.  For $326 (including tags, date, logo, shipipng and tax) they are making 40 of them.  This saves me the hassle of getting them there and they are gorgeous.  I am using them for my place cards, and "shake for a kiss" as well as the reception gift.  http://www.maracasartanddesign.com

Those are very pretty! Unfortunately, it's out of my budget though! I'll have to stick with the $1.95 per pair and have to drag them down with me!

Hi Ladies!!

Our wedding is November 1, 2013. Our save the dates have been sent out but I am wondering when Invitations should be sent out?

Also, I know we need to send out menu cards along with the invitations. Any ideas on how to make these menu cards? Maybe vistaprint?

Thanks!!!

We are getting married 11/16/2013. :)   I am sending out my save-the-dates at the end of the year.. so in just a few weeks.  They have a pre-RSVP with a yes, maybe, no option, so I can get an idea of who plans on coming and who definitely is not coming.   I'll be sending my invitations out the middle to the end of July with an RSVP deadline of the end of August; that gives people a month or so to get it back to me.   I may change my mind on when I send the invites, but so far that's my plan.  I hate the idea of sending them out earlier in case people lose them.. I figure if I have a date that's not that far from when they get the invites, I'll have a better chance of people filling them out and returning them right away.  Both the pre-RSVP and final RSVP are postcards with postage already on them so they can fill it out and put it in the mail.

As for menu cards, I'm printing my own and bringing them to give to Pilar to put on the tables for me. I already bought some nice cardstock (that matches my invites, which I also made) and got some cool fonts to make them in MS Word - they weren't anything I was super into, so I made it as simple as I could.

Hope that helps!  Good luck!

Yup Misscolo16!  You two have the same wedding date.  How fun!  You'll have to get together and have a toast!

I have updated the bridal roll call with the newer brides that I saw.  If anyone is not on the list, please let me know!

Thanks and happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
