I have a question. My fiance is really worrying about us going over budget and keeps asking how much the entire wedding will cost. So I want to know...what is the average cost for the entire wedding at the Now Jade?? I picked the Divine Wedding package for 25 people. As of now we will only have 25 people and won't be adding anymore. I know that we will want to get a photographer from a different vendor as well. Could anyone maybe give a "guesstimate" price? That would be very helpful? Also, are there any taxes added onto the Divine wedding package?

Thanks!!!

Hi Michelle,

I can send you the invoice Pilar sent to me?  We have a total of 40 people, so a lot wont apply to you, but you can see where the costs come from? Just inbox me your email & I can send to you!

Hi Kristen, I am wondering how many people you originally invited, I am guessing I will have around the same numbers as we are inviting 70 total. If 70 people come I am going to have a coronary though!!!

Just remember that it's$300 per person, so for you and FI it could be $600:-)

If you were legally married before and changed your name, all of the stuff ($600 worth) can be in the same bag.  If you aren't, they must be in separate bags.  Just wanted to be clear. :)

Oh, I know what you mean!  We originally invited 115 people!  We thought we'd end up with about 75 (which still made me nauseous), but turns out a lot of people just weren't interested/able to go.  We are having an AHR on June 21st though, and will invite all of those same people, so we'll prob end up w/ about 100 there.  I might just have a difficult family though ;), all of my extended family thinks they're going to wait until 2 wks out and try and book last-minute.  We are struggling with that, because we want to implement a hard deadline much earlier than that- I have already started buying stuff, and would like to do as much as I can in advance, so the stragglers are frustrating.  That's a whole other post, don't get me started!

When we originally sent out the STD (Facebook and email), we got a lot of positive response- we did this in January, and when deposits were due in April, and push came to shove, hardly anyone jumped on board.  Which is fine w/ me, I would rather have it be more intimate...

Ok Ladies.  I just need to vent.  I did not realize how stressful and frustrating it would be to plan a destination wedding!  We are working with a travel company/wedding planner, and OMG is it ever maddening.  I feel like nothing is finalized, we wait weeks for responses, nothing is clear, things aren't communicated well.  Has anyone here used a 3rd party to liaise with the hotel? Is it really necessary?  I mean, we used her to book the packages for everyone etc, but as far as dealing w/ wedding-specific details, is it not better/easier for me to just communicate w/ Pilar?   All we kept hearing was how unresponsive the hotel is, how delayed they are, etc etc.  so we got roped into paying $500 to this company who is supposed to make this easier for us, and all we are is frustrated!   The old saying "Too many cooks in the kitchen" is ringing true for us, and we are just nervous that things are going to get complicated.  I need some reassurance that everything will fall into place once we get there, I am feeling so anxious about it.   Maybe I am a bit more Type A than I thought!  But it's hard working with a resort out of country, and our travel agent is also out of town, so we have never met, all communication is via email or phone.  Am I alone? Overreacting?  arghh!!!!

I think all of your concerns are valid. It also appears that you're not alone, as I've read similar things on here from lots and lots of brides... it's a natural reaction to all of this, so I don't see it as you overreacting.  It seems like a destination wedding is so easy to plan, but in reality it's seemingly more difficult.  There's a lot of things you have to leave in the hands of people you've never met.  I'm not going through a travel company or wedding planner (aside from the resort) so I can't relate to the frustrations there.  My advice would be to relax as much as possible.  Everything I have read from past brides was positive and while it sucks not having great communication, the closer your wedding day gets, the more frequent and helpful the communication will be.  If you would feel better about contacting Pilar yourself, do just that.  You're the bride, you have that right. :)   Also, something else I've read hundreds of times on here - most of the planning will be done when you get there, which sounds completely dumb, I know.  I saw one bride post that her wedding could have been planned in three days. :)   Make sure you bring everything with you, pictures, lists, etc. so when you meet with Pilar you can give her everything and go over all the details.   Your wedding is going to be amazing... for you, for your FI, and for all of your guests.

I look forward to seeing your pictures!

sounds good! I think we are leaving for a different resort on the 22nd but it would be cool to meet, I think there are one or 2 other brides there at the same time too, we could have a bdw reunion! :) You are really on the ball with planning (started early). I think we only have a couple people booked so far, I have no idea how so many people get people to book so early! Maybe all my friends and family are procrastinators like me, makes sense! ;)

Hey Michelle,

I totally understand wanting a guessimate on cost of this wedding. It can be so difficult to "guess" with all the hidden costs that there seems to be! I'm having approx. 40 peopele and to be honest I kinda wish my numbers were closer to 25. From what I understand once you exceed the 25 people the cost goes up dramatically. And I am also wondering if there are taxes on the divine wedding package..at 26% that can add up.Thanks goodness for this forum!! AT least us brides can help each other out:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
