She quoted me at $40 for setting our paper lanterns up but never charged us for it. This seems to be pretty typical.

Hello fellow brides!!

I am getting married November 28th and have to book my hair appointment very soon! Our ceremony starts at 3:00pm, does anyone have any suggestions on what time I should be booking our hair for? Does anyone have a timeline for prior to the ceremony? We have 9 people that will need to get their hair done at the spa.

Also, we are using an external florist from Cancun. Do you know how that works with the resort? Can the florist just drop the stuff off? It's just centrepieces and bouquets. Or do I have to pay the vendor fee?

Thanks, appreciate any comments!!

Nicole

Hello Jade Brides!

NOVEMBER 2013 Bride here!

I am in the process of confirming my wedding date for November 1st 2013! My fiance and I are SO excited and I cannot believe how helpful this forum is.

I am speaking with Theresa the travel agent and she has given me the room rates. One of my questions is about blocking the room rate. I was told we have to block 10 rooms for $1000 and that will go towards our stay (my fiance and I). Is that correct? Also, if we don't have 10 rooms booked do we lose that $1000?

I'm also using Teresa and I love her!.  To answer your questions, yes this is accurate, and there are cut off date as to when you can cancel your contract without loosing your money.  There are means of setting your contract up so you are only responsible fo 5 or 6 rooms (this is what I did even though I blocked 12 rooms).  My best advice is to direct specific questions to her. She is very patient, detailed and quick to respond. But she's not a mind reader, so you'll have to ask any questions that you have and feel free to raise your concerns. I corresponded with Theresa multiple times a day for 2 weeks straight prior to signing our contract. She's there to help.

Great!! Thanks for your help!!

I have asked her some questions and she was very patient. I am going to find out about being responsible for only 5 or 6 rooms since I am not 100% positive all 10 rooms would be booked. Thanks again!

Hi Brides!

Just booked our wedding for May 30 2013 at the Now Jade! Yay! We picked the Pergola deck (ceremony) and Bamboo room (reception)... Any recommendations cocktail hour? I think there is a terrace outside the bamboo room, which I thought might be a nice option... that way our guests aren't walking to a new location so many times. Any ideas?

Also, just wondering if anybody has any color suggestions! We love purple--- but I haven't seen many purple options through the resort! Their color choices seem more limited, so just wondering if anybody else has had purple incorporated in!

I was thinking of going to the get linens and fabrics for decor and was wondering if Pilar charges to put the decor up at the wedding. I know I am going to buy bows here for the chairs and she charges the $1 ironing fee but does she charge for us to bring our own linens for the tables?

There's no charge to the Bride/Groom for bringing their own decor, they only charge set-up fees for certain items.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
