No, I am not bringing my own cake stand. I am less than 2 weeks away and feeling anxious about packing! I am doing welcome bags as many of you are doing and definitely under estimating how much space it is taking up! We ordered plastic cups for everyone and totally didnt realize how much space they would take up. I am also worrying that I forgeting something big to do! Any last minute things people can think of that I could have possibly forgotten???

That was my dilemma with making bags. I know they will take up a lot of space because I wanted to get flip flops and a plastic cup along with other small goodies. I am probably going to get a very small thank you bag. I havent ordered my cups, so based on what you are saying, I'll probably go with a small tumbler and stack them up.

My MIL just came back from being in DR for well over a month (her mother, my fiances grandmother recently passed). She said- bring an extra empty luggage because it is cheaper to pay for a second bag than to pay an overweight fee. This also happened to my mother at the airport and she had to transfer items to her carry on. I guess weighing bags at home and evenly distributing weight is the best way to go.

I know the packing must be one of the most stressful components. Good luck with fitting it all together.

Happily married to the love of my life- since July 5, 2013

HI ladies congrats to you both!!

I am getting married this Dec and I am using a planner and she has been great! If you would like more info on her please PM me.

Otherwise take your time and pace yourselves. Before you know it things will start coming up and you will have decisions to make so go dress shopping and look at different things so you dont do it all last minute because then it can get overwhelming and frustrating.

        Good luck!

Hi! I'd love the name and email for your travel agent. How has she been to work with? Thanks!

Hi ladies, I'm undecided what hotel to get married at in punta cana this 2014. I think I'm mostly torn between Paradisus and barcelo. Which do you all recommend?

              Hello PPR Brides!

I am so anxious b/c my date is so close and my planner is due soon! I have a few questions (please keep in mind that I am trying control the cost at this point):

              1. What information are you including in your welcome bags? Are you also including gifts or favors? I was thinking of adding an info sheet (with information to be determined), a favorite DR snack, maybe a map, and a personalized plastic cup. I can't think of anything else. Cheesy?

              2. Are you having a rehearsal dinner? If so, where?

              3. For 26 people, should I hire a DJ? If no DJ, should I hire an MC?

              4. Is anyone hiring a videographer? If so, who are you using? Is anyone also streaming their wedding for guests who can't attend?

              5. Is anyone using an outside stylist for hair or make-up?

              Thanks for your help!

My FI mother would like use to register for gifts becasue a lot of their family is not joining us in the DR.  We feel a little awkward about having a registry do to our decision of having a destination wedding. Does anyone have any suggestions on who we should we word it on our wedding website without sounding greedy?

                  Hi Ladies,

I know some of your big day is fast approaching!  I don't know about you guys but I am getting super excited as well as overwhelmed.

I had my planning call last week.  It went really well we covered a lot.   Lots of food choices on the buffet menu with swaps allowed within reason. I have been finishing up my Message in  a Bottle invites....the DIY from hell!  so I hadn't done that much else.  We are doing the chill out chic package...was wondering what kind of pricing you got for centerpieces.... everything adds up so quickly.  We chose that package partially because we loved the decor and didn't want to have to add much!  Anybody renting the bridal suite? I have a small party and not sure if it was worth it.....  We are staying in the reserve so the suites are large.... I figured I could send my fiance and his son to get ready with my dad and nephew...  Also, what is everyone doing in regards to music for cocktail hour?  Bianca suggested having cocktail hour in the same location as reception so we could add the DJ for an hour, or use an ipod for the cocktail hour.  Would an ipod be cheesy for the cocktail hour.....i think if we did a good mix ahead of time it would be fine probably...

Plus we have a little situation....my sister who is my maid of honor is pregnant, her obgyn said it was fine to fly....she will be about 7 months in july!  Only thing is she got put on bedrest for some issues last week....  I don't know if she will be able to come with her husband and my niece and nephew who are in the bridal party as well..  ahhh the stressors of a destination wedding.... I have seen some of you are going thru issues as well!  We are trying to stay positive!  The baby and my sisters health is most important!!!!

Oh and congrats to all the new brides to be just starting their planning!

in regards to registering..... We felt funny at first but we have a lot of family who are not attending and my mom still thru me a bridal shower, especially for people who couldn't afford to attend the wedding, she thought it was a nice way for them to be included in some of the festivities!  We registered for a mix of things to update our home since we live together already and we were careful on prices.  Since some people are traveling for the wedding we didn't want to go crazy with big price items.  Pretty much there was something at every price point!

                    Hope that helps!
