Hey Angel

We sent out our save the dates a year in advance, My feelings on it are if someone really wants to go they will make it happen and if not they wont. Its about what you and your fiance want and you have to do what is best for you! Good luck with the planning!

Hey Angel, I agree with Erica . It's tough and I'm actually being pulled in different directions as well. My mother made a comment that she wanted "just one of her daughters to have a real wedding" and I said "so because it's away and less people are coming its not real?" How's this for backlash- both of my sisters helped me reach the decision to do a destination wedding, were all for it & now that it's time to book rooms are saying I'm out of mind because it's too much money and I'm inconsiderate. We also sent our Save The Dates a year in advance. People pay for vacations and all sorts of other extravagances. We also used a travel agent and people only had to pay a $50 deposit and the rest is due 2 months before the wedding. People can pay as they go. Ultimately everyone will have something to say so I resolved myself to saying- Elvin and I will be there whoever wants to join us- please come, whoever can't make it- look at pictures. People who can't come have the rest of your married life to see other life milestones. A wedding is one day. If I listened to everyone else- we would not do a destination wedding. And FYI- our budget for our wedding in DR is $20,000- that's for flights, hotel, photography, DJ, church fees, premarital class, boarding our dog (I'm sad she can't come lol), souvenirs, all the bells and whistles. A wedding stateside was $20,000 for the catering hall alone so in total it would have been $40-50,000. I'd rather save our money and buy a house! Plus you cannot beat a week long celebration in paradise! Ultimately it's what's best for you and your fiancé. Don't let anyone sway you. Close your eyes and dream about your wedding. However you envision it is the way you should execute it. Start your lives together on your terms not anyone else's.

Hi Erica. Thanks for the great tip about flying with your wedding dress. I will definitely look into this. We will be flying from nj so the costs should be somewhat similar. Where are you having your cocktail hour? And are u having a private rehearsal dinner? We are still waiting for confirmation for the big day. Hopefully we will here this week. Suzanne

Angelnjewels-

Wedding Paper Divas always seem to have some sort of coupon or promotion going on their website... I'm thinking of doing the save the dates from there. I found the perfect invitations by searching on etsy.com for wedding invitations. They had so many different options! I purchased several samples (much cheaper than some websites) and found the ONE :)

LL117-

Can you also email me any photos and pricing you have for reception sites?   swatts000@gmail.com

If anyone else has photos or add on costs please share!

I've had a hard time getting complete answers from the Miami office and it's been 20+ emails for all of the details but still unsure as to what hte reception options look like.

Does anybody know how many weddings a day they have?  I have heard some conflicting information and I'm trying to avoid feeling like I am in a wedding factory for my special day!

Also, I just received their price list, it seems a little high versus some of the other DR resorts... am I overlooking something that the other resorts don't include?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
