OMG that is crazy!! I better tell my dad and everyone else out here to start looking into the passport process! on a side note, LOL to having your mom rob a bank!

I am having guests coming from Ecuador, Atl, Fl & NY… let's see how that goes.

YES! Definitely. I harassed my mom to get it sooner and she kept insisting she had time and now she's scrambling and might have to rob a bank. One person she spoke to said to send a letter detailing why she needs the passport urgently and to send our flight itinerary. We overnighted those papers along with my birth certificate and both of my sister's birth certificates, her marriage license, her social security card, and her non-driving license ID even though that one is expired.

This was the point of passport invitations lol- as a friendly little reminder to get your passports updated. Even if people are just renewing- some countries will not let you enter/ exit unless you have at least 6 months before the expiration. I'm not sure if that applies to DR. But I know some places won't even take your passport if you have only a few months until the expiration.

Tell them the horror stories and hopefully they will make it one of their first priorities!

Hey guys,

Does anyone know who Massiel at PPR is or have worked with her? She went MIA for the last 2 weeks and we have not gotten any responses from the resort either. My TA and I have been e-mailing her and the resort as we would like to finalize our dates for August 2014. Does anyone know who should we be in touch with regarding finalizing our contract or blocking our rooms? Now that we finally decided on the resort, we are already having communication challenges. We are somewhat disappointed as if this is happening now, what could we expect for the days prior our wedding?! (scary) My fiancé and I are already considering re-searching on resorts on DR… (sight). Let's see what happens.sad.gif

Happy Planning to everyone,

Liz

It's funny I just started typing a long e-mail including all the "Heads Up" for our immediate family and fiends, I just gotta wait until I finalize everything with the resort first before I send it. I'm sorry you are going thru this and hopefully they expedite the process. Who said that doing a DW is a relaxed way to go???? LOL One of the main reason on us deciding on DR is b/c my parents can travel w/o a visa, supposedly they only need a passport (i hope this policies do not change until next year).

That's correct- they only need a passport- no visa required.

I just saw your post and it kinda clicked....is she with the actual resort or is she from the office in Miami?  Initially you deal with the wedding dept in the Miami office they take care of contracts etc.... Not sure if that is what is going on, but was just a thought... That sounds very unusual.... I had my date confirmed within a week of starting the process

Ladies, I just got back from the resort and it is absolutely gorgeous. The food and the service were great and all of our guests said they want to go back again. If you have any questions that I can answer, please let me know!
Hey Missy, Congrats!!!! How was everything????

It was great. We arrived on Wednesday and stayed in Royal Service. Most guests arrived Thurs and stayed in the regular Palma Real portion of the resort. Our royal service butler helped to deliver the OOT bags, which was very helpful. We did a welcome party on Thursday night-- we had cocktails and passed apps in a private area near one of the pools and then they had a private area at the Naos restaurant sectioned off for us for dinner (one of the buffets). I also did a triall at the salon on Thursday. It took a long time, but she did a nice job. Friday was a free day and most people hung by the swim up bar at the main pool and the guys played golf. Our wedding day was Sat and it was great. I rented the bridal suite and my bridal party and I all got hair and makeup done. The guys got ready in our room. We used Arrecife for photos and video and DJ Mannia as our DJ. Our wedding was off the resort at the Jellyfish and if you want to leave the resort for dinner one night, I highly recommend going there- the food was amazing. After the wedding most of our guests left yo head home and we moved to the Reserve. We had a swim up suite there. We stayed until Friday morning, and spent the honeymoon relaxing by the beach/pool, doing excursions, going to the casino, and trying all the restaurants. We also ventured out to the casino at the Hard Rock one night.... Everything was perfect and coming home was very depressing! I was extremely nervous before I went and the first part of my trip (before the wedding) was extremely stressful, but everything turned out great.

Wow that is really awesome!! I am so glad that you had a great time.... I read that the jelly fish was amazing...how did that work out with the whole package thing with the resort?

It sounds like it was an amazing wedding/trip... Yay!!!

Sorry if I bombard you with questions...I think is all of the anxiety lol

Did you like Arrecife photography? (we are trying to contract with them for our wedding) Did you do the video?

How was the reserve? (My fiancé does not want to stay at the reserve but the rooms look amazing...Do you hear children crying all of the time...I read on some reviews that people do not like to stay at the reserve because of all of the kids...)

Was this your experience?

I hope we can see some pictures...

Thanks for your response and congratulations to you and your husband!!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
