2013 Paradisus Palma Real

Recommended Posts

Has anyone worked with Lara? I emailed her early this week and havent heard back. I don't know what is so difficult about returning an email but they work at a snails pace. This is why they shouldn't have preferred vendors. If their vendors don't work to my liking, I'm just stuck with them? Sucks. Any former PPR brides on this thread use her services for decor?  I am bringing things down with me but I wanted to order fresh hydrangeas for my centerpieces.
Hi Ev, I met Lara and have exchanged emails with her. She seems to respond rather quickly. Because it is holy week and in Dominican republic mostly everything shuts down maybe why she has not responded. She may respond to you by next week after the holiday.

Ev,

I think the general rule is that they take at least two days to respond back which is super annoying. I have been emailing her back and forth. I sent her pictures of what I wanted and they said they could do it. I sent different options and they give you an estimate of the costs. I am doing like fishbowls with a candle, sand and seashells. We are also planning on using the chinese lanterns for decor. I am bringing down table numbers and escort cards. Hope this is helpful!

So I am having a total melt down. I finally found a travel agent  who gave us rates 12 bucks less than what the romance office gave us. we are having our wedding during march because my fiancé is not able to get off during the summer months so our rates are 246 per night per person. our travel argent got us 232 pn pp. which is slightly better but has to be locked in by tomorrow and we have to put down 500 bucks plus pay 50 per person staying with in the next 3 weeks. did you girls have to do this. What are your thoughts? my fiancé an I are not sure that this is necessarily better even though she has included airport transfers for an additional 38 bucks and travel insurance which is optional. now I am debating wether or not we should have booked during the summer or fall. this seems a bit outrageous. please let me know your thoughts and what your travel agents worked out for you.

Thanks ladies

Is you wedding in March 2014?

Yes! We are very excited but are not sure of this is what everyone else goes through.

Our wedding is in Dec 2013, we booked it in Feb. I think you still have time to book the stay at the resort. We have been working with a travel agent and she was able to get us a deal through Delta. It was 1350, for 6 nights, traveling non-stop from JFK with transfer from and to the airport in DR. Most of our families have already booked with this deal. Prices will fluctuate for the resort and for the flight. What I think you should do is give information regarding the date  of the wedding to whomever you are inviting and tell your travel agent to constantly look for deals. You have time so I personally wouldnt worry. When we sent out STD we gave the info of our TA and told people they could book through her or book it on their own. She kept updating me on different deals she found and when she found the Delta deal, I went through the fine print with her and when I realized it was a great deal I called all of our family and people would call her and give her their info. She asked for $150 deposit per person, and the full payment will be due 1 month before we travel. Our friends have been taking their time with this and I dont have the energy to push them so if they book too late I cant do anything about that. I have given them more then enough notice.

Happy Easter!

I have decided and hope it works.... to not give a flip about what anyone says... slowly realizing that    I just have to stop caring what people think and say... family and friends should be happy and supportive but we have encountered some negativity... OH. WELL!!!! No more Mr Nice guy and no more accommodating lol

Seriously! One of our groomsmen was just arrested for a DUI and his court date is our wedding. He text us "sorry" and my MOH text me she didn't want to be my MOH but when I took her off my wedding website she flipped on me and said she wasn't sure she needed "time to mull things over." She said "I dont know if we should even be friends" I told her- well while You're busy mulling- my wedding is in 90 days. Either you're in or you're out. Friends don't need time to think about whether they are going to remain friends. I don't have time for your high school drama" and that's where we left things. Haven't spoken to her since. I'm really over everyone's bull. I can't believe how incredibly selfish people are. I never did anything like this to any of my friends during their wedding process. You are right to take that approach. Like I tell my mom- we are booked and we have all the things we need to get married and on July 5th that's exactly what will happen- with or without anyone else's involvement.

Hi ev,

Yes! I totally agree. I cannot believe that planning our wedding will determine who our friends really are. I honestly can't I keep hearing that the rates are too high (246) and that ppl will stay at other resorts... I said ok fine but they will not be able to join the activities that we have planned for the week like our rehearsal and welcome party and a spa day... oh well... don't come making my life miserable bc when you got married I was a bridesmaid, planned your shower and bought your wedding dress.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
