So I am waiting for confirmation for my Dec 8, 2013 wedding. In the meantime, I wanted to know if any of you have sent Save the Date cards via email. If so can you please suggest any websites?

Thank you!

Paperless Post...google them I don't know their website per se but they make fancy email invitations. My friend suggested them to me...I don't know if the service is free. I think they have a few free ones but then they have some really fancy designs that will run you some money. Congrats!

Well- Don't mean to be the negative nancy on the thread so today I come bearing good news! Proof that persistence wins if you are willing to battle a bit. Paradisus came down to $500 for the outside vendor fee which I still argued about. I contacted Mannia about the whole fiasco and they agreed to discount their services so that I could pay Paradisus the fee. The total price of their services was $1000 and we paid a $495 deposit. They are only asking us to pay an additional $95 for a total of $590. They have been so nice during this whole difficult time.

So I win! I get to keep my DJ- it is only costing me slightly higher than I would have paid ($90 more) and everybody is happy...well probably not Paradisus but oh well bootyshake.gif They don't get to charge me an outside vendor fee for more than my photographer and I am booking him a room to avoid that one as well. It ends up costing less to just book the vendor a room so you don't pay the day pass fee and booking a room costs less than the $1,000 fee to begin with.

I SHALL HAVE THE WEDDING I WANT ON MY TERMS- Say it with me ladies! Do not let anyone steal your thunder! LOL bride.gif

Hi Ev, This is a site for us brides and a place for you to vent... Girl vent if you have to!!! We Re here to support each other. I am happy to hear that things are working out for you... This whole back and forth is not what a bride needs and I am not happy that you have gone through this... Still looking for a travel agent in NYC who is Spanish and English speaking. Ugh I am torn because my friends mom is a travel agent but I am concerned that people will give her a hard time, or things won't work out and that this will cause a problem and ruin a fruendship. I don't want to ruin a friendship and I don't want to go with the Miami office either. We tried speaking with liberty travel and that is not gonna work...

Hi Ladies,

I am so frustrated and I am hoping you could help. I know I keep venting about this stupid welcome dinner here, but I am getting no where on this.

I am having 40-50 guests and when I booked I was verbally told I could have a Welcome Dinner at one of the restaurants for no additional cost. Now, I am being told that none of the restaurants can hold more than TEN PEOPLE at once. This has to be BS. I remember personally speaking to another bride who had her's at Gabi Beach. I know other people have done similar as well. I am open as to which restaurant we book at but I do want everyone TOGETHER.

Do any past brides have any experience with this?  Our group is spending well over $50K between all of the guests rooms and accomodations,  and there is no way I am splitting up all of my guests for the welcome dinner. We have spoken with the resort directly and they have been no help AT ALL. In fact, they have been trying to upsell us to pay for a two-hour cocktail reception instead, and there is no way I am spending one more penny at this resort.

I am so annoyed right now. I would never have booked this resort if I knew how hard they were going to be to deal with. I know it is supposed to be a beautiful property, and that is why I chose it, but right now I am really regretting my decision.

Anyway, if any past brides have any experience with planning something like this it would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Missy, So sorry! Its an all inclusive resort it should accomidate a party of more than 10 people. What about when they are at max capacity... I dont get it... Howhard is it to accomidate you and your family... I was there in january and the resturants look like they can accommodate more than 50 people. If you book the bana for hibachi... they have about 4 tables which can accommodate up to 12 people. My fiance and i want to do the welcome BBQ on the beach the day before the wedding which will also be our rehearsal dinner. The more my fiancé and I read the reviews the more concerned we are...

They should be able to accommodate your welcome party although I have to be honest- that is a large number of people. The issue is probably that they would have to close the restaurant to the public during that time period. When you spoke with them did you tell them how large your group was? I agree, I would not pay for a welcome dinner. At first we thought about doing the Tailor made package but we thought some of the components were a waste.  My thoughts were to use Bana for a rehearsal dinner since it has the hibachi tables and you can fit the most people. For your group they should be able to accommodate in Bana- thats what I have heard other brides say.

We aren't doing a welcome dinner. We will have a "thank you brunch" the day after the wedding in the buffet and you cant stop a group from going to the buffet lol.

Email the Romance team and ask to speak directly to a manager. That's what I did to resolve my dilemma. Sometimes it takes a bit of a fight but they need to find a way to accommodate you if they said they could. Also- email them do not hold them to their word by something they said. You need written proof. Keep copies of every email- that's my advice going forward but I know it doesn't solve your current dilemma.

Which reviews are you reading? I have yet to see a bad review of the resort itself. The only negative reviews, and I think we can all attest to this, are from working with the Romance department itself. I sometimes question my decision but we are so far along we have no choice. I am just hoping it will all work out. Enough brides have gone and said many good things so I'm sure this is just routine hiccups that happen no matter what resort you plan your wedding in.

After reading these past posts about making a dinner reservation for the group, I looked through emails because I was planning on doing the same thing. Jessica my romance planner said reservations can be made at earliest ten days in advance so maybe when it's closer they will be more accommodating? That's what I'm hoping for. I feel as though its a lil ridiculous to have to take pay for a dinner when the resort is all inclusive. I am hoping with our group being 40 people to just dominat an area at the hotel haha. Also, just a lil advice that I was given to pass along to you because I'm trying to follow! The day and vacation is going to be wonderful because we all will be with our friends and family and everyone will be on vacation. My friend just came back from a wedding there and she said her favorite part of the whole trip was just hanging out with everyone and listening and dancing to their own music they brought. So that just makes me happy and hope have that same mind sight!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
