Hi ladies we have our date!!! march 22, 2014... yay! My save the dates are ready and we should be mailing them out soon. Question: when you pained your deposit...how much was it? I am reading the invoice and is says we owe money but we were told that it would be 500 dollars. I am so confused! Has anyone worked with Lauren and Jessica? I was working with marylin but was now transferred to Lauren.

If the wedding is a year away or less- the deposit is $500. If its more than a year away, the deposit is $1000 I believe. Either way- it goes towards your wedding so no worries. I had Lauren at first and then I was transferred to Bianca. I liked Lauren and was not happy about the transfer. I liked Bianca until my whole DJ fiasco. I had to go over her head and talk to a manager and I got Massiel and she did not handle the situation professionally. She was rude in some of her responses so I was rude right back.

Hey ev, Sorry you had to go through that. Yea it's a different person and reading all of the reviews about the Miami office makes me kinda anxious at times. We were gonna do the wedding planner but already had money down for our site visit and didn't want to loose that credit.... I am keeping all of the emails cuz it sounds like things can get crazy.... I hope that you don't have to go through any more craziness. This should be a fun and relaxing process. Massiel, that name sounds familiar. the manager at PPR's name is Massiel as well.. I didn't get to meet her when I was at the resort but she was on vacation. We met with Mariella another planner. Good luck and good night!

So DJ update- I have been going back and forth over who is responsible and from what I can determine- the resort admits I followed protocol but that the DJ should have never accepted my deposit- which means the DJ is also at fault- but they are insisting we pay. We basically got caught in some bitter battle between DJ Mannia and Paradisus and now we are forced to cough up the outside vendor fee. After fighting tooth and nail back and forth for over a week the "deal" they presented us with is that Paradisus would be responsible for 50% of the outside vendor fee and the day passes- $120 each, $240 total, and we would pay the remaining $500- because you know, it such a wonderful deal. I shot back an email saying that was not a consolation because this whole thing was not our fault and was told "I am trying to be nice, some brides get nothing." I think they are just not used to push back from a bride who knows her rights and does not like being taken advantage of- so time to work a new angle. I wrote to Mannia asking if they could sweeten the pot by offering us a discount on one of their additional services we intended to add- like the LED dance floor, since we would have used the $500 we will now be stuck paying on the LED dance floor and other amenities. It was worth a shot. I'm torn because I know I shouldn't pay the $500 at all- but I really want DJ Mannia. We compared Abentos their new DJ's to Mannia and we favored Mannia. I don't want anyone who has Abentos booked to be concerned- but they seem like a newer company where DJ Mannia has DJ-ed many weddings in the past. If I were just looking for simple music and MC- no problem, I'd go with Abentos- but we wanted the sea lighting and a couple of other things that Mannia offered that we did not see on Abentos' website- but I'm not sure the $500 is worth it. Many people originally going to our wedding now backed out (my dad and one of my sisters...oh and my MOH aren't I a lucky girl...) so we have less people to pay for, which frees up some money but with less people do we really need the whole kit and caboodle? What to do? What to do?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
