2013 Paradisus Palma Real

Recommended Posts

Hi Erica,

The food is amazing and the presentation is great. We are really into having the sit down dinner which gives it a nice feel...

Yes i met the new DJ Aventos entertainment. I was told by the romance department at the resort that the DJ mannia is no longer working with them and that all of the DJ's that worked with DJ Mannia have transferred to another company.

I was not happy with the MC who does not speak much English. Which may be a bit a problem because my fiance's family does not speak spanish.  So we have decided that our best man who is a dj and MC  in NYC will take over lol at some point.

WHAAAAAAAT? We have DJ Mannia booked and booked them while they were still connected with the resort. We have already paid the booking fee and no one from Mannia or Paradisus has notified me of any changes, so I suppose that means they will still DJ our wedding. I am not paying the outside vendor fee, they BETTER waive it since I am already under contract. Glad the food is good though! We are going with the buffet because our reception is on the beach and the plated dinner is not an option. Originally I wanted the plated dinner but honestly, the buffet has more variety and seems like a wiser option.

A lot of what you ladies are discussing is unbeknownst to me so I am a tad concerned. I booked in 2012, even though our wedding is in 2013, so I must have the old 2012 info. However, all that information has to be honored in terms of pricing and options, because it is already in my portfolio and I made a separate wedding email where I keep all of my correspondence. They do not want to mess with this bridezilla by being shady.

Hi EV,

Yes. I know all of the changes are annoying to me. mad2.gif

During our love at first site my fiance and i requested to have DJ mannia and asked what happened to them since we had read all of the amazing reviews. The ladies in the romance department shared that their contract expired and the new entertainment company was aventos which we had never heard of... I am sure it will be fine. As long as you give your dj the song choices that you want it will be fine. I do not think they will charge you for an outside vendor fee since you booked your wedding in 2012.

I still have so many questions. my fiance and are in the process of filling out our contract yikes...

Does anyone know of a travel agent in the NYC area???

I am in the NYC area but I have been using Patty from Wright Travel (in CA) and she has been great. We just communicate via phone/email. Lmk if you would like her contact info!

Hey,

Yea but the thing is we are contracted with Mannia- they cannot just change a contract because they no longer have a relationship with them. I will email both the romance department and Mannia today and find out because if that was the case- someone from either end should have notified me. That is absolutely unprofessional. Am I supposed to show up for my wedding and discover I have a new DJ?

In other news- I have an amazing Travel Agent but she is in Long Island. Don't know if that's too far for your family to travel to.

Hmmm i am having second thoughts about this dj now... I have started to compile a list of what i want to hear and do not want to hear. Also, ladies... one of my bridesmaids is actually going to a wedding there this week so I have tasked her togather info for me so I will relay all that to you!

EXCUSE MY FRENCH- but this is some BULLSHIT! I just emailed and heard back from Bianca at the Romance department and she is saying that Mannia knew full well they were not the official DJ and should have informed me so I will be responsible for the outside vendor fee and I said- I absolutely will not pay it because it is not my fault you have terminated a relationship with a vendor. I shot her an angry email and made sure to tell them their outside vendor fee is astronomical and they should not pigeonhole couples into using their preferred vendors. I am beyond livid right now. I sent the email in September 2012 asking about Mannia and was told they were vendors. Not my fault that has changed since then. I'd like to know when they were not official vendors because I did pay the deposit in January, but only after I was told they were indeed vendors.

With all the frustrations I am experiencing, I am regretting booking PPR. They are behaving shady and in several other posts from brides, I defended the resort because all my interactions had been relatively positive. Now I wish I had booked my wedding elsewhere because this is not how you conduct business. It's terrible. I know its a five star resort with excellent food and accommodations, but the way the romance department is handled is terrible, terrible, just plain awful.

One of two things needs to happen- They need to waive the $1,000 fee or DJ Mannia needs to return my $495 deposit. I am not going to lose any more money because they cannot maintain professional relationships. This is ridiculous. mad2.gif

Thanks for the info- Bianca wrote back saying she would speak with management to see if the fee can be waived. The answer better be yes. LOL I also emailed Mannia letting them know I want my money back in the event the resort is unwilling to waive the fee. I hope they do- Although I don't like acting like a bridezilla- bridezillas seem to get their way. Sometimes you have to flex a little muscle. I cannot afford to just lose money and throw it around. I took a second job to help curtail expenses so all my dollars are precious...every last one!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
