I am having drama with all of my family too! They were so excited to have a dw like you said and now everyone is throwing it against me that I am "FORCING" them to pay all this money to go there. Which is not the case at all. Anyways, Does anyone know if you have to pay for your cocktail list for your 1 hour cocktail party? We are getting married in March and everything is paid for and I feel like daily I get an email saying that there is more random things I have to pay for that are coming out of nowhere.

I am having a bit of drama too... Alot of people are crying poverty but what hurts the most is my best friend isn't coming... Said she can't afford it but then bragged her dad gave her 10k for Xmas.... Needless to say I now know her priorities and it's not being there on my special day. Disappointing but trying to stay positive. : (

Sorry my fellow brides! I posted because I needed to vent and although I am not happy you are experiencing emotional upsets, I'm glad I've been able to talk and relate to a few of you. I really swore up and down this only happened to me because so many brides on this forum report such excitement about their weddings or large numbers of folks and I thought "it's just my circle giving me the drama" Suzhen I'm sorry about that. That's similar with my sisters. One of them really cannot afford it but I am giving her my free room credit- she just needs flights for her and her son and she says she will use her tax return $. My other sister- no excuse. And like I told my mother- if people don't have the money I understand, decline the invite- but don't encumber me with your 100 reasons why and guilt me. My aunt, her stepson is getting married this year too, so she told me "I simply cannot attend I am so sorry but I will be at your shower and AHR" and I didn't begrudge her. What my sister said was "for that price I can get married myself or I can remodel my kitchen. I'm not spending that much money on just some wedding. And I have a child to worry about. Should she starve so I can go to some party?" That's what bothered me. Or people calling me constantly to ask me if I realize how expensive flights are. It's like they feel bad they can't attend so they put it on me. No more! Ev you are right. I have to just let it go or I will be a very unhappy bride. My fiancé and I chose this knowing full well it wouldn't sit right with a good number of people. We knew the risk but it's what we envisioned, what we wanted- and gosh darn it after all we have done for friends and family- its what we deserve! I keep telling myself- and some of my guests- On July 5th- Elvin and I will be getting married. If you want to come- fantastic we'd love to have you. If you can't come- that's a shame we will miss you- but regardless we will be there. And we will be getting married. FIN! Keep your heads up fellow brides! When I get down about something or another- I busy myself with a wedding related task haha like glueing rhinestones to my invitations, or jazzing up my unity sand set. Or looking through Pinterest and Etsy and then I get excited again. I'm sure on all of our big days none of this trivial mess will matter. We will be married and happy and nothing and no one can take that from us.

Hello Ladies,

I am truly sorry that you are going through tough times. But remember this is your day. No one has the right to ruin it for you as some of you  mentioned before. My problem is inviting more people just because my family wants me to. Why should i do this when we are actually trying to cut down.

It's nice to have brides to share this with since we are all going through the stress around the same time.smile03.gif

I will be traveling to PPR tomorrow so I hope that it meets my expectations. My fiance and I have been waiting for this moment for months. This will determine weather or not we will continue with the wedding plans at PPR. I'm so nervous!!!dizzy.gif I have so many questions i am going nuts...lol...

Question:

For those brides that have traveled before...how safe are the taxi's at punta cana? I understand that PPR does not provide airport shuttles so we have to figure out how to get there...

Thanks a bunch

Ok,  ladies I'm having another panic attack, please bear with me.

I have recently paid the deposit for reserving the date of October, 26, 2013 for our wedding day.  After doing average weather comparisons for that time of year I began to think I just planned the worst vacation for our guest.

So, ANYONE who can shed some light on the weather at the end of October PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know what to expect.

When doing my research it indicated that the average weather was 50% overcast and between 79-88 degrees and rains 49% of the time.  I hope we able to enjoy the weather, pools, beach and golf and hope that I didn't just pick the worst time of the year to go:(

Hi Katie83, My partner and me have great experience working at both hotels, PPC or PPR,   and we have a few friends that are travel agent representatives directly person to person at the hotels  so  what exactly makes you feel nervous about your decision?  maybe we can give you some opinion that  could help you.    Best Regards      Asia Pimentel LL
Asia, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your review and expertise was beyond helpful and reassuring!:). Thank you soooooo much! I really appreciate all the insight.

Hello ladies, My fiancé and I are enjoying our last day at PPR. The love at first site visit was amazing. We met with Mariela and Rosa from the romance department and they walked us through everything. We had our menu tasting and I have to say that the food is excellent. Last night we watched the show Le Cirque and my fiancé and I were impressed. Overall we are truly considering to have our wedding here and continue the process. We have met with Arrecife, Caribbean celebrations, Aventos the DJ, and received a tour of the resort. We encountered some issues with the room and the service. Other than that the resort is beautiful but the weather have not been great. It rained the past three days. The restaurants that we loved were palazzo (royal service guest only), gabi, Bana, the market grill and Naos. We did not have a chance to try passon, vento, and the mexican restaurant. We will be leaving soon and I am sad to go. I feel that I have more exploring to do. Ana

Thanks for the review Ana- did you not go to the other restaurants because they were closed? Ugh rain- I hope that doesn't happen to us that's certainly every brides nightmare. How was the crowd? Did the resort seem full? I guess its hard to measure when its off season.

What were your complaints about the room service? Did you take any pictures you are willing to share?

My biggest regret is the date we selected. Initially when we looked flights for fourth of July weekend weren't high and our travel agent said it wasn't a major holiday because it wasn't long enough. Now the flights are astronomical. I'm afraid some people will not be able to join us. I've already had my father and my sister tell me they most likely won't make it.

The group air was the best decision- we locked in $500 round trip per person with taxes included- but they wouldn't give us more than 15 seats and people have to agree to depart and return on the same exact flight. We had people who initially thought to stay just for 3-5 days switch to 7 just to get on the group air because the price was so good. Now we are referring our friends and family to travelocity, cheapcaribbean, cheapoair and other booking sites to try and find packages that are cost effective.

Bottom line- a wedding around ANY holiday is a terrible idea. We did it for that weekend because we figured people wouldn't have to take time off because they already had the fourth of july weekend off but in retrospect- people will take the time off regardless- go for the cheaper times to fly. That is what we should have done :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
