I wasn't entirely sure how it worked. I might try it if air fare is low enough but usually its quite high. The week of our wedding there was a flight as low as $420 per person and we very stupidly failed to book and the same flight is now costing $800 pp! We are waiting for Jetblue to release their flights and are booking a group air for our guests. Initially I was reluctant to book with Jetblue because they have no closet to store my dress (no first class cabin). I would have to put it in the overhead or hold it- but with flight prices so high, I'm willing to compromise. I will hold my dress in my lap for 4 hours haha. I do not care. And therein lies the benefit of a more form fitting style as opposed to a bigger ball gown. My dress choice now makes sense to me. rolleyes.gif

What's everyone going with in terms of color schemes and themes (if you have one)? My fiance sort of usurped my wedding theme lol but he was so excited he lit up like a Christmas tree and I didn't want to steal his sunshine so I let him run with it.

He is getting the suit James Bond wears in his latest flick- blue with a silk black collar (lapel?). My friend who is making his suit initially presented this look to him and begged him to choose it because she said she loves making that particular suit because its so unique, but he chose something else. Then he saw the James Bond Trailer and said he wanted the suit. Then he asked if we could have a James Bond theme to our wedding lol He wants a signature martini and everything. Initially I had selected a peacock theme- but I can weave some peacock elements in there. Our color scheme is a palette of blues so I guess James Bond it is. He wants us to have a whole action sequence entrance- why not when we were having the fire dancers anyway. I roll with the punches. I want our wedding to be a fun experience. We are getting married in the church which will be the more serious side- why not get goofy at the reception.

I'll see what other elements I like from the film- we are going to see Skyfall tonight.bunny_4.gif

Hi Ladies,

I am planning to send my save the dates 6 to 7 months in advance due to scheduling issues. Do you think that is enough time?

We have been talking about our destination wedding for almost four months now and have told everyone but do not have a date yet.  I am starting to freak out because i dont know if this will give me enough to do it all while going to grad school.

What are your thoughts???

Thanks.

:)

I concur. Save the money and skip the STD's. STD's generally go out like an announcement. We sent ours 10 months in advance and invitations are going out 8-7 months before. Since that's the timeframe you're in- save the money and send the invites. You can create an electronic STD- like an evite and write- "formal invitations to follow"

Hey girls,

I just got married at the Paradisus Palma Real on November 3rd. It was AMAZING!!! I had both my ceremony and reception on the beach and it was perfect. I had the chill out chic package and everything was beautiful. If you have concerns relax because the romance team was great. I definitely recommend having your reception on the beach. It was BEAUTIFUL, we did the light up dance floor and Chinese lanterns and it was incredible. At one point during the reception it started to rain and within seconds the wedding planner had a back up place for the party inside, but fortunately the rain only lasted a few minutes and our reception remained outside. The food was delicious, we chose buffet option 1 and it was the best food we had all week. DJ mannia was great, we sent a lot of songs that we wanted played and he played them all, and would play whatever requests that we had last minute. It was the best wedding I have ever been to and not just because it was my own. My sister had a destination wedding in Bahamas and my brother had his in Mexico and mine blew both of theirs out of the water. The resort was so much fun too, we had 38 people mostly in their 20s-30's and everyone was entertained at all times. There are tons of restaurants, bars, a nightclub and a casino; there is definitely something for everyone. I thought that I would be stressed out on my wedding day but everything was just so fun and perfect I was at ease at all times. If anyone has any questions let me know. And I will try to post some pictures.

Quick question. Will DJ Mania and the onsite photographer contact me via email? I was originally booked at Paradisus Punta Cana and those folks were proactive. Both the onsite photographer and the DJ sent me price lists--it was all unsolicited. If anyone has their email addresses please post them. I just got the email address for the person that coordinates the bridal suite and spa services. Cheers!

I wish I was creative enough to figure out a theme. I watch tons of wedding shows but I am at a loss. Your ideas sound so creative! James Bond is hot stuff! That's quite brilliant actually--luxurious/mysterious yet fun and bold. My fi and I went to see Skyfall the other night--it was awesome.

In terms of color schemes my favorite color is green--I watched a David Tutera episode and he claimed that green was the worst color for a wedding LOL. So I tried to change it to purple or something more traditional. After trying on dresses with my bridesmaids I decided to go back to green--the dresses are a fern with gold foil. So I guess our wedding palate is fern, gold and chocolate. I think it's missing a color though. Any ideas? We want to have eco-chic wedding with some African fabric accents. I haven't figured out how to incorporate other African accents without it coming off as safari themed--not cool.  How can I put unique touches on my wedding without it being cheesy?!? Any ideas?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
