I do not think it's rude at all! You'll be the newlyweds, and who can really blame you for wanting a honeymoon!!

My mom and 2 of my aunts go to Mexico on a girls trip ever year, and they are wanting to go for 2 weeks and stay one at the same resort for the week of the wedding. I politely encouraged them to stay for the week before the wedding instead of after, and they have obliged! We are changing resorts anyways, but I just know that my mom would want to hang out if we were there at the same time, even if she says she wouldn't want to interrupt our honeymoon! It worked out perfectly! I'm sure it will for you as well!

We are staying 7 nights total. But what we have done is told everyone the days for the wedding is 10/13-10/16. We will be staying from the 11th until the 18th. I set up our wedding website with all the information for 3 nights and 4 days. I wanted to ensure that we have alone time. So we will have time before the guest arrive and after wards to ourselves.

I definitely agree with the other posters...this is not rude at all. I think most people would do the exact same thing in your shoes. We are paying for some of our guests (and a partial amount for the rest of our guests), and some decided to stay even longer than we are. We felt like we had to switch to another resort, so we didn't have to share our honeymoon with everyone else. Not that I'm bitter or anything. :)

Anyway, you deserve a honeymoon...take it!

  • 3 weeks later...

I think that it is a great idea to change resorts after... and don;t feel guilty if you had a wedding at home you would be leaving after for the Honeymoon and not taking the group with you! This is your time together to celebrate the beginning of a long future as Mrs & Mr.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
