hello,

Your wedding was so beautiful! I am currently looking into having our wedding next November 2013. If you don't mind sharing, I was just curious how much you paid for the whole reception? Are those your decorations you brought with you or did you pay to have them decorate? Also, is there a time line that you can have the space for? I would like to have a party for the entire night (just like a traditional reception). Any help you could give me I would greatly appreciate!!

Hey cabobride 2013, I'm getting married in November 2013 too :) I've done a bunch of research & bugging the WC via email with a 1000 question lol that I've found out that there are time restriction on many of the reception locations... Many of the locations allow for the reception to begin around 6pm and end at 11pm. Which sucks, I know, but what I plan on doing is just moving the party to the disco or another bar for the rest of the night! Another option would be to have your reception in the ballroom, which your allowed to party til 2am..... It's really your own preference. As for decorations and price, I haven't gotten that far yet either... Can anyone help us out?? Lol and can anyone recommend a good DJ? Music is super important to me and my groom and I'm worried.....

This thread has been super helpful! My wedding is May 22, 2013. Our ceremony is booked for the gazebo and I want to book the Baja Norte, I've been told this cannot be done until 2 months before. This has been a bit stressful as I know there are 3 other weddings that day. As for total reception costs, from the other Riu Palace brides I've spoken with, the average seems to be around $8000. This includes all of the extras like site fees, dj & lighting, dinner per person, etc. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure about the hiring an outside DJ. I know they charge for outdoor vendors for photographers & videographers etc. my photographer is staying at the resort so I am counting her as a "guest" at the wedding, but I am paying the $300 outside vendor fee for the videographer.

Hello Ladies,

This is my first time joining or talking on a forum. I have been reading all the comments and it sounds like the Riu Palace Resort is a great place to have a wedding. I am getting married there on June 15, 2013 which is not that far off and I have not heard from my wedding coordinator yet. Can someone please give me names or information on an affordable and good photographer? So far the prices I've been quoted seem ridiculous and I am already doing cutbacks as it is. Also, what is the cost of DJ's any of you have used and how do I go about obtaining information regarding a DJ for the reception? One last question...did anyone have their reception in a ballroom at the Riu if so, can you share the experience or recommend if it is worth it. Thank you

Hello Everyone Planning Their Wedding at Riu Palace,

I can't believe it's almost going to be a year already since I got married there in August 2012. I remember around this time last year reading all the great forums and using all the great information to plan my wedding. My husband and I read a lot and we did our homework.  Future brides....You are going to love the Riu Palace. Do not panic!!! Be patient with the wedding coordinators. They are really busy planning and organizing all the current weddings. They will respond and they are really helpful. Our WC Kylene was awesome. I thought we picked a great time in August. They don't seem to be as busy as we did what we wanted because we were the only ones to get married that day. Marco the minister was awesome. Go ahead and read our short review "when we got back from our honeymoon". There's also some pictures we posted from our wedding. We loved it and so did all of our guests. Yes, early August is really hot and humid but it didn't bother us since we knew ahead of time. DO NOT HAVE YOUR RECEPTION INDOORS!! The disco is really dark. We did our homework. Trust me. We looked at ALL options and what we decided on was the best. The outside views are awesome for dinner and reception ( the steakhouse upstairs for dinner, mexican restaurant terrace, or Baja Norte will work best). Our travel agent was awesome. We found her through this website. Teresa Sterling with Vacation For Less. She's based out of Los Angeles. Overall, we all had a blast!!! Read our review.

Congratulations MRuiz2013,

I am hoping that the WC has contacted you by now. It's been a week since your last post. I too, was freaking out when I wouldn't hear from the WC but overall we had good communication through email. We were making changes and switches up until the week we left for Cabo. We did our homework though after reading all the forums and studying pictures. Read our review under one of the forums under my name JESS4219. I also recently posted some updates on other recent forums under "Destination Weddings in Cabo" and then under the Riu Palace Comments. There's really no way around the DJ price. We got the DJ and lighting package. But we ended up taking our own music list on Ipods and he played the music for us. It would cost about the same if we just asked for speakers and iPod stations. Might as well get the DJ with the lighting package. It was worth it. Lights made a difference. Having the reception outdoors is the best choice. It's too hot to be indoors and the view outside is awesome in evening and the night breeze is the best. We had a BLAST at the Baja Norte.

Hello,

I read your comments and I was just curious to know who your DJ was. Can you PM his name if you remember it. I am having my wedding there this summer and I am really nervous because the wedding coordinator is not replying to any of my emails and I have lots of questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
