2013 Brides in Jamaica

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I'm considering Secrets St. James and Wild Orchid for my destination wedding next year.  Has anyone had their wedding at this resort and can offer some feedback?  I have a TA, but I'm concerned prices for guests will increase for next year.  Any insight would help.  Thanks!!!

Dani

HI DaniScales2b,

I am also getting married in Jamaica. Although we are not using the same resort, we have a wedding planner/travel agent and she has been able to get us some group quotes for next year. She also said that Sunquest will do one time price matches if prices go down before the wedding date! This was really reassuring for me.

Hi SoonCB!

My fiance and I have decided to look at Iberostar Grand instead for the wedding.  We've heard nothing but great things and prices are pretty flexible between the other two resorts on the Iberostar property.  We're taking a trip down next month to view the resort and potentially book for our wedding. I'm so excited!  What resort have you decided on?

We are waiting on quotes back from our wedding planner. We will be booking the group rate by next Wednesday :). We will probably be booking with Riu as it seems to be the most budget friendly :).

That's awesome that you are able to do a site visit before hand. We are unable to do this and will be depending on pictures to decide on the offsite ceremony venue. Have you chosen a wedding date yet?

I am getting married this year in Jamaica and I was able to get the prices locked in for us over a year in advance. Your travel agent can just request a group package. Secrets was my first choice in Jamaica but I could not do it there as they are adults only. Of the resorts where there was no age limit we choose the RIU. I have heard great things about it and know people who have been there numerous times. The wedding planner has been amazing as well.

SoonCB and Kristy28,

RIU is awesome!  I've stayed at the one in Negril and had a wonderful time.  You both will enjoy it if you haven't been there already.  My wedding date is tentatively set at May 4, 2013.  Hopefully it's still available because IGRH only has one wedding per day.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

Kristy28,

Do you mind sharing the price per person that you booked? We are either going to go with Riu Negril or Riu Ocho Rios, both look great! Who are you working with as you wedding planner? Just on resort or an outside planner?

Getting married over the New Year 2013

So we want to be travelling to the resort on the 29 of december 2012...right over the new year. The quotes I have received for Negril are expensive. If  it was just the two of us... we wouldn't be too concerned. (And could have got married anywhere to our previous awesome travelling destinations, just the two of us!) But even for our parents and siblings... We are talking 2100$ for Breezes. And 2900$ for Beachesblink.gif.

How many of you got quoted at and above 2000$ and paid less ?

Thanks

Here are the quotes I have...

Jan 5th/2013
> The best price that I have for the Beaches Negril is with Air Canada Vacations.
> The rates from Vancouver is $3006.40 per person   cry.gif
> The rates from Toronto is $2786.40 per person
> The rates from Montreal is $2828.55 per person
> The rates from Quebec city is $2948.55 per person
> All of the above rates include all taxes....Bottom line
> Please note that while these dates are listed as the 5th of Jan these dates are still subject to change.

> Jan 5th/2013
> The best price that I have for the Grand Pineapple Negril Is with Westjet Vacations.
> The rates from Vancouver is $2130.76 per person  undecided.gif
> The rates from Toronto is $1866.17 per person
> The rates from Montreal is $1886.66 per person
> The rates from Quebec city is $1922.70 per person
> All of the above rates include all taxes....Bottom line
> Please note that while these dates are listed as the 5th of Jan these dates are still subject to change

> Jan 7th/2013
> The best price that I have for the Breezes Negril is with Sunquest Vacations.
> The rates from Vancouver is $2526.71 per person  embarrest.gif
> The rates from Toronto is $22151.16 per person
> Jan 8th/2013
> The rates from Montreal is $2136.00 per person
> Flights from Quebec City are not offered.
> All of the above rates include all taxes....Bottom line
> Please note that while these dates are listed as the 7 and 8th of Jan these dates are still subject to change.

Have you requested any quotes recently? Sunquest recenlty released a promotion for winter next year. We had a previous quote and got a new quote. The price decreased and there was some added bonuses for the Bride and Groom. Also, are you pretty set on going around new years? I'm sure the rates would go down even a week later.

Hopefully this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
