I was searching for threads with packing advice and this one helped me out A LOT, as I'm starting to pack tonight (EEK!) and was putting together my lists.

How exciting to be packing. I think I was packed about 1 month before we left. I wasn't wearing any summer clothes at the time. I was soooooo over packed!!!! I didn't wear half of the stuff I brought but had to wash it when we got home because of the wet feel and smell.

 

I suggest that if you ever want to know the time bring a watch! We didn't and there are NO clocks anywhere!! It drove me nuts. I also second the travel mugs. your legs will thank you! I so wish I could go back with you guys!! Its cold here and beautiful there. You will have a great time. I can't wait to see pics and hear how it went! Have fun!!

This is the list I am using as a guideline. I think Paula's is more comprehensive but I think that this one tells you how many things to pack. I usually do a good job, except in the underwear department. I don't know why I think I cannot leave my house overnight without 15 pairs of panties!

 

Brides Magazine recommends the following for one bag/one week:

 

1 Lightweight Jacket or Sweater

2 Pair Casual Pants / Jeans

7 Casual Tops/T-Shirts

2 Casual Skirts/Shorts

2 Sundresses

2 Evening Outfits or 1 Suit

8 Pair Underwear

3 Bras (including strapless if needed)

2 Swimsuits

1 Beach Cover-up (Sarong, Tunic, etc.)

1 Hat

1 Beach Bag

4 Pair Socks

1 Pair Athletic Shoes

1 Pair Casual Sandals/Flip-Flops

1 Pair Dress Shoes (these must be closed toed for men)

1 Evening Bag

1 Evening Cover-up/Shawl

2 Sets Work out Clothes

1 Toiletry Bag with Sunscreen & Bug Spray

These lists are wondrously helpful! It's always a challenge for me to not overpack, but also not leave anything crucial behind!

Don't forget to pack Shout wipes! They are perfect for getting makeup stains off any fabric and not leaving a ring.

FYI that Wal-Mart sells travel size Shout Wipes in their travel toiletry section. I think you get 3 wipes for $1.

One other tip that I think is great...

 

When you pack your dress to carry on they plane, turn it inside out. This will keep it clean if the bag is opened and searched. It will also help keep FI from sneaking a peek!
