Great list, Paula! Thanks for posting.

One note, make a photocopy of your passport and driver license to carry with you and scan/email another copy to yourself. That way, if you loses these documentations, you'll have some form of proof and will be easier to get the replacements.

Here is the packing list from my website:

water shoes- the beach can be rocky

camera

underwater camera if you plan to snorkel or scuba dive

passport!!!!!

travel agent's phone number incase there is a problem

medication for head aches or stomach pain

sunscreen

snorkel equipment: If you plan on doing a lot of snorkeling, having your own is very nice. The hotel has some you can use, but only for an hour at a time. There is a dive shop 2 miles away where you can rent equipment. You can get a set for $25 on amazon.com.

bottle opener

sunglasses

swimsuits

hat

dramamine if you get motion sickness

single ones for tipping or buying bottled water/beer when away from the hotel

calling card if you plan on making phone calls

extra batteries for cameras, etc.

camera charger & extra memory cards (for digital cameras)

outlet adaptor, if your plugs are 3 prong. The outlets in Mexico are like the 2-prong outlets in the US.

insect repellant

comfortable shoes

addresses if you plan on sending postcards

Things to do

Make a copy of your passport to leave with someone back home incase your passport is lost or stolen.

Leave the phone numbers & last 4 digits for your credit cards with someone so they can cancel them if they are lost or stolen.

Call your credit card companies and inform them you will be in Mexico so they do not freeze your account due to suspicious activity.

Inform your bank you will be in Mexico, if you plan on using your ATM card. You can ask them to temporarily raise the max on how much you can withdraw per day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
