Hi everyone - I'm been reading throught the posts and all of the information on this site is so helpful (and overwhelming)!!!  I have so many great ideas now that I can't seem to choose.

My first question is:  I've already starting making my own brooch bouquet.  Should I make smaller ones for my Maid and Matron of Honor?  I've decided not to have a big bridal party, I'm having my sister and best friend.

congrats!! I have seen them just 2 in more than 400 weddings, they looks great, I really like them, I think that your bridesmaid would use natural flowers, and you too (for some moments), this bouquet could be a little bit heavy, you might want to use some natural flowers for some shoots.

Good luck!

Gonzalo

Hi everyone! I'm getting married at dreams puerto aventuras on nov 10, 2012. Just getting into the detailed planning. Picked persimmon for our color - bill levkoff chiffon BM dresses and tan vested suits with persimmon ties look sharp! Planning on 4pm ceremony in gazebo and reception in El patio. Working on invites right now and trying to figure out what to include. Any dos/donts for destination wedding formal invites? STD went out in feb and a few have booked already thru our travel agent. Might have 60-70 attend! Getting nervous more than we planned and have space for but sure we will squeeze everyone in!!! Now have to figure out how much decor items we should bring vs what pkg comes with! We think we are going with the pkg resort photographers. Trying to see more examples of their work- so post if you have some links! Thinking personalized sunglasses, plastic cups with lids/straws (great for all inclusives) and other fun beach favors in a favor bag. Like the idea of a guest list in the bag too with info/city/names of everyone since a lot traveling from overseas and different places in US from everywhere we have lived. Lots of details to sort out on favors and decor but glad to have the big things picked out. Almost at the 6 month mark and can't wait!!! Hope to meet other 2012 DPA brides and share useful tips and ideas!!! Katie

I'm making my own brooch bouquet as well!  Only thing is, they are very, very heavy...make sure to calculate that when you pack them in your luggage

I am getting married in August 2012.

As I play the game of - where do I want to have my reception (inside in the A/C or outside on the beach - it is the middle of summer) - what flowers do I want to go with - and what food do I want to include on the final menu...

I have some other questions I was hoping some experienced brides of this resort could help me with:

(1) I am going with the Ultimate Wedding Package so pictures and video will be included. I having a small reception when I return for guests who cannot attend Mexico. I want to include photos of the ceremony as well as play the video for my guests at the reception in September but was wondering how long it takes to get your photos and video back from the resort. Will I have them before I leave or will they mail everything to me? Also, how was the overall quality of the video and pictures by the resort photographer/videographer?

(2)  How well does the resort salon/spa do with your hair and makeup? If you took a photo along - were they able to match it?

(3)  Any food items you highly recommend for the menu as I put it together for the reception? If there is anything I should avoid, speak now or forever hold your peace  cheesy.gif

(4) Centerpieces - did you just wing it and use the ceremony flowers as centerpieces?

Any feedback you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

HI Ladies, i decided over the weekend to put a deposit down on a wedding date at the beginning of March.  I'm excited to learn from you guys what you are doing with your wedding planning.

the question i have today is , if you have more than the 20 guests that ultimate wedding package includes, then you pay individually for each guest after that correct?   what about if you get the basic package.  how do you determine what the cost is for the reception for that? i'm guessing we will have 60 guests (we are inviting a ton of people:))

Chelsey - If you ask Jacki to send you the Wedding Checklist - it's one you are to start filling out 6 months before, so most likely you didn't get that specific checklist - it will add up all the extras for you so you can get an idea of what the final cost will be. Do not let the amount scare you - I'm sure they will throw some things in for no charge when you get there. Also, ask her for the flowers and menus. You'll need that when filling out the checklist.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
