Venue selection for 100 people wedding

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Brides!

I am trying to do the following schedule for about 100 guests:

4:00-5:30pm = wedding (Indian Hindu ceremony)

5:45-6:45pm = cocktail hour

7:00-Midnight = Reception

1) Suggestions on where I should do these?? (gazebo, beach, cascade terrace, ballroom , etc)

2) For the brides that did the outdoor evening receptions - how did you transition from the 10:30 curfew into an indoor location?  doesn't that kill the party mood/buzz?? also, where did you relocate to?

3) wedding location - how annoying is the sand in your feet?

4) How do they charge when you have a large guestlist and following events lineup?

Thank you soo much for your help!!!

Great Questions! I have no idea and I'm still just in the plannign stages - but would love to know the answers - especially about the pricing if anyone has any insight! It looks like WAY more people are RSVP'ing yes than we expected. We had thought we'd have 35 - 40 and it looks like we may have over 60 *(which is huge strain on our budget and I'm a bit stressed about that). Does anyone know how Dreams Cabo charges to events like that?

4:00-5:30pm = wedding (Indian Hindu ceremony)depending on what time of year, it can be REALLY hot that time of day

5:45-6:45pm = cocktail hour

7:00-Midnight = Reception

1) Suggestions on where I should do these?? (gazebo, beach, cascade terrace, ballroom , etc)the gazebos is great but may be a little tight for 100...you can have both ceremony and reception at cascade terrace.  it is right next to the beach so it can be a beachy event without actually being in the sand

2) For the brides that did the outdoor evening receptions - how did you transition from the 10:30 curfew into an indoor location?  doesn't that kill the party mood/buzz?? also, where did you relocate to? usually by then, the older guests are ready to go to their room and the younger ones can def. move to another location on the resort...the resort is not that big so it is a really easy transition

3) wedding location - how annoying is the sand in your feet?

4) How do they charge when you have a large guestlist and following events lineup? they add a per person fee.

Thank you soo much for your help!!!

Hey McLecker,

Im going through the exact same thing as you. I cannot believe how many people have rsvped already and we just setup a facebook page 2 days ago. I know not everyone will end up coming but Im thinking we are going to have more like 60-70 people! I don't know where to start looking for resorts that can handle so many people. This is a bit overwhelming. Do you have people travelling from all over Canada like I do?

Sure do! I have friends and family from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta and BC all coming for this. I spent so much time trying to find a location that would make this wedding accessible for those that wanted to come (right price, right timing, right location) and it seems I may have done too good of a job! Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled so many people want to come - it's awesome. I just hadn't budgeted for this. Lots of people say that your numbers will drop when it comes to actually committing with money - and I had counted on that. We are two weeks away from the deposit deadline and the list isn't getting shorter. I'm actually trying to dissuade some people from coming - that sounds awful I know!

Hi there, we had about 60 people for our wedding at Dreams los Cabos...you can see some pic, ive posted them all over BDW.  we had a welcome dinner at oceana terrace then our wedding reception at cascade terrace.  they were both fantastic places to hold private events.

usually if you have more people than your package includes, there is a per person fee...the amount of course depends on the menu you choose, etc.

we usually only hold 1 a year per resort.  we may bump it to 2 a year if we have a lot of interest but they take a bit of work to pull together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
